Opaque dark brown colour, Tall loose fizzy tan head that quickly completely disappears, light patchy lacing. Strong mocha coffee aroma, coffee liquor, light liquorice, spicy notes. Taste is light heavy sweet and medium bitter, roasted, coffee, toffee, with long duration, mild sweetbitter finish, coffee continues as well as roastiness. Light to medium body, watery to oily texture, soft carbonation, well-balanced and pleasant mild Porter but could use a bit more body.

0,33l can at home from trade with rich182, big thanks. BB 26.12.2015. bit of a gusher this one. black color, rather big dark coffee-colored head. smells of earthy, licorice, light smoke, coffee, light notes of bitter herbs, light ash, coffee grounds. nice smell. medium to full body, very bubbly carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes of licorice, earthy, some sweetness, bit cola like, caramel, rather light coffee notes, spices, sweet herbs, lightly soapy. finishes a bit bitter / sweet with light roast notes and notes of licorice, earthy notes and spices. enjoyable beer, rather on the sweet side though. the sweetness gets a bit annoying after a while though, especially once it starts warming up.

33cl can.

Clear dark brown beer, big irregular creamy beige head, little stable, falls down quickly, bit adhesive. Aroma: lactose, grains, hay, cow fodder, some coffee, bit dusty, charcoal, burned. MF: soft to no carbon, medium to light body. Taste: rather sweet, lactose, caramel, hay, mocha, bit sourish, little bitter. Aftertaste: pretty hoppy, mocha, caramel, coffee, dark chocolate, almost medicinal bitterness.

Can from Old Shambles Tavern in York. Appearance - opaque black with a thin fawn head. Nose - coffee and dark chocolate. Taste - more of the same. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly balanced finish. Overall - it’s very well made but I’m not a fan of a beer where the addition of a non- core ingredients makes the beer somewhat dominated by that extra ingredient. This is such an example though it is well made.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Dark brown body with a thin beige head. Faint lacing. Aroma of coffee, treacle and chocolate cake. Flavour of brown sugar, stewed berries and hazelnut. Thin to medium body with a creamy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Rich and full flavoured. A bit too sweet for me though.

Cask @ Old Gate, Hebden Bridge. Black with a thin off-white creamy head. Has a good roasted malt aroma and taste with its coffee flavours more abundant in the latter aspect.
