We love making single varietal cider from this apple as it never fails to deliver intense and strong expressions of the fruit. This apple was cultivated to produce cider and has built a huge following and reputation globally with cider makers.
It is a tricky tree to nurture at times, but rewards the orchardist well once it is pressed into juice, providing a golden tangerine hue. A fresh and vibrant nose shows characters of apple blossom, sherbert and spice.
Spice transfers to the palate which balances acid, tannin and fruit sweetness perfectly to give weightand length. Rich, complex yet approachable.
Kingston Black is the perfect guest at the table.

Golden to light copper with a good sized head for a cider that thins to the edge and some spotting.
Nose is caramelised apples, straw, herb, tannins.
Taste comprises bitter sweet apple, vinous tones, light acidic spike, tannins, funk.
Medium bodied, soft carbonation, good drying close.
Solid drop.

750ml wired cork bottle from Willie Smiths. Opened with a pop. Orange golden colour, short-lived white foam head and aroma of apple, wood, funk, earthy. Taste is sweetish, fruity apple, pulpy, some caramel, with wood, funk, spice hints and bittersharp tannin. Medium bodied, light carbonation, dry tart tannic finish. Nicely drinkable.
