From Beer Drop. RHO 15/25, whatever that means.

Pours a dark brown with reddish hues, nice finger of close to tan foam, retention and lacing are excellent.

The smell explodes with peanut butter, with coffee not far behind. Some bitter notes from the coffee and the peanut butter adds mild sweetness.

Taste matches the smell. Coffee is a little more assertive than in the smell but otherwise, no difference.

Pretty fullish mouthfeel, this is a treat and I would drink this again.

Pours near black with a dense tan head. It smells of roast malt, peanuts, coffee, and chocolate. The flavor is of dark roast malt, peanuts, coffee, and chocolate that blends well together. The roasted coffee balances the malty sweetness nicely. Medium bodied. Very good.

It’s so good. It’s better than coffee and better than beer. This is what coffee beers need to aspire to be.

Draught @ Clinton Hall51st, Manhattan (Feb 2024). Inky black with a foamy dark beige head, sweet coffee aroma, adequate carbonation, sweet coffee taste, caramel-toffee flavor, smooth thin body, long coffee finish. Smooth and tasty.

AROMA: I'm first hit with strong scents of peanut butter, moderate scents of chocolate, and lastly, mild scents of coffee . The aroma is very inviting and makes me want to dive right in!

It should be noted that I have also tried the brewer's Sweet Baby Jesus! beer. In comparison, I find that this beer (Sweet Baby Java) has much stronger scents of peanut butter.

APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque black with a medium-tall, dirty tan head, that dissipates slowly and has moderate lacing. This is your classic porter look.

TASTE: Moderately sweet with predominant flavors of peanut butter and chocolate, with a touch of coffee on the backend. I find the sweetness level to be perfect for this type of beer. It really helps to play up the peanut butter flavor, yet there's enough bitterness to remind you that you're drinking a beer and not a soft drink.

MOUTHFEEL: Full bodied with a somewhat creamy texture, and average carbonation. The mouthfeel is definitely heavenly!

OVERALL: The aroma, flavor, and texture are all outstanding! However, for a beer with "Java" in its name, I was expecting the coffee flavor to be a bit more prominent. Don't get me wrong, you don't have to hunt for the coffee, but you do have to wait for the stronger flavors to abate a bit before you can taste it. And while I "think" I would like more coffee flavor, I'm pretty sure if it were increased it would throw off the otherwise, quite delicious flavor profile. So I will keep my mouth shut. Well, not completely shut, because I have another one chillin' in the fridge just begging to be consumed. :)

Bottle. Pours black with small tan head that lasts. The aroma is strong roasted malt, cocoa, faint peanuts. Slick body, cocoa, light on peanut butter flavor, just strong roast, dry finish, good.
