In 1984, this was the first wheat beer made in the U.S. after Prohibition, and in 2001 we re-introduced this favorite as an unfiltered Hefeweizen. A slight citric tang and banana aroma make this the perfect beer for working on your lederhosen tan lines.

Can/Fest. A- Bubblegum, banana. A- Yellow color, clear liquid, white head. T- Banana, bubblegum. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Banana and bubblegum are the prevalent flavors. A touch of clove and wheat as well. Really good take on the style. Schell continues to impress me with their no nonsense traditional approaches. As good as any Hefe I've had in Germany.

Not a bad traditional style Hefeweizen beer. Oromo was the best part here with cloves bananas and malt. Flavor was like nose Carbonic Tang was a little strong body was a little thin and watery likewise with carbonation a little strong. Still decent enough beer overall.

From old tasting notes. Clear deep bronze color. Nice creamy white head. Faintly sweet wheat malt aroma. Tart citrus malty foretaste. Brief tangy finish and aftertaste. Refreshing and very drinkable.

12 oz bottle generously given to my by my friend Derek. 092812 038809 stamped on the bottle. The pour is a lightly hazed yellow golden with a one inch white head that falls pretty quick. The aroma is grain, light lemon citrus, and a hint of earthiness. Generally, faint nose. The taste is wheat grain, sweet banana fruit, light spice clove and an earthy mineral in the aftertaste. The flavor picks up considerably from the nose. The palate is medium bodied, nice un-filtered mouth feel, and the dry mineral finish. Easy drinking, decent enough Hefe. Thanks for putting this in my care package, Derek.

Bottle. Very pale yellow body with a medium haze to it and a fluffy, white head. Aromas are nice enough… a little bit of grass, some lemon and a touch of corn syrup-like sweetness. Flavor is a bit watery, but pretty good. Underlying the cloves and grass is a light malt sweetness that plays nicely against the spicy yeast and hops. Finishes with a little bit of a banana & lemon fruitiness with some cloves.

I’ve waited a while to taste this, ever since I was introduced to Schell, I have enjoyed their beers. Gunk on bottom of bottle, lots. Beautiful swirling unfiltered wheat beer pour. Nice wheat beer aroma, very attractive. Very light pale yellow orange haze and a small surrounding thin white girdle for a head. Fun and nice immediate palate, bubbly fresh and hefey! Spicy and delicious, spices do not overwhelm. Very good hefe experience. There is a developing attempt to be bitter, but the manners of this brew never lets it get there. No bitter aftertaste on the finish. Just what I expect from schell, quality beer. Not disappointed. Much better than troeg’s dream weaver. Almost as good as Erdinger Weissbier (Hefe-Weizen)!
