Full-flavored, medium-bodied porter. A malt forward beer with a medium hop bitterness. It is dark brown, almost black but will have ruby overtones if held to the light. There are flavors of chocolate and toffee due to the specialty malts used. BTW a Goney is an ancient mariner's term for an albatross.

Taster at Moby Dick. More deep black than brown. Last glass in this flight, and it's still holding a thin layer of tan foam. Smell of roast malt, and I'm thinking of molasses, since I'm still thinking of the previous Colonial ale. Taste has big chocolate and campfire roast malt. Flavor is actually a bit overpowering, but that can be expected at this style.
