We’re playing off the camping theme of Beer Camp with a beer we’re calling Campout Porter that evokes the flavors of marshmallows toasted over an open fire. The beer features special ingredients such as malt smoked over manuka wood (a tree native to New Zealand) and manuka honey. Additionally it contains beechwood honey from California and Tahitian vanilla beans to reflect the sweet and roasted notes we were looking for in this collaboration.

12 oz bottle from the mix pack, bought at work. Pours black but looks dark dark brown with red highlights when held up to the light; has a one finger beige head with great retention and some lace. Aroma is vanilla, chocolatey, honey, dark fruit, coffee, booze, wet stone, dark bread. Taste is sweet and dessert-like but not cloying; finishes with a higher than average bitterness for a dessert beer. Really tasty stuff. Nice concoction.

12 ounce bottle. Mahogany color topped by a large rocky beige head. Nice lacing. Toasted malt aroma hints at cocoa. Bittersweet roasted malt flavor. Underlying complex sweetness from the honey and vanilla. Herbal hop bitterness in finish. Complex and spicy.

Another awesome Sierra Nevada beer. These guys are dependably good like Coen Brothers movies. Black pour with good head and lacing. Vanilla, lots of roast, dark chocolate and light burnt oak. Great balance. Bittersweet finish. Bottle from mixed pack.

Bottle from 2017 Beer Camp case. Near black pour with lasting beige head. Mild smoky sweet aroma. Taste is bitter, ashy, campout for sure, burnt marshmallow. Very distinctive. Not your average porter, a bit of an edge.

Bottle. Wood smoke, marshmallow, sour milk, and chocolate malt aroma. Brown with moderate off-white head. Mildly sweet chocolate malt, and moderately bitter dry wood/herbal hay flavor. Good body. Pleasant - on the dry side.
