At BrewDog we're pretty excited about everything to do with making new beers. So excited that we decided each of our bars should get the opportunity to come up to the brewery and make a beer of their own. From recipe development through to getting knee deep in malts as they dig out the mash tun, this is the beginning of a new BrewDog story; the story of our bar brews.

The beers are named according to the bar they originated from and the bars opening order. The bar beer names are:

Keg at BD Shepard’s Bush. Reddish brown coloured pour with a lasting off white head. Aroma is toasted berries and grassy hops caramel malts. Flavour is toasted biscuited malts with sweet berries and nuts. Grassy dirty bitterness in the finish. Finish is quite sweet unrefined sugars and dried fruit. Hard to put your finger on this one.

Keg at BD Sheps Bush, 09/04/14. Clear rich amber with a well appointed light beige head that retains well. Nose is light hops, candied fruit peel, fruit loaf, light spice. Taste comprises caramel, light spice, hint of vanilla, fruit rind. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok easy drinker but not much going on for a 6% beer. I’ll pass on this one in the future!

14 Jan 2014. Keg at BrewDog Camden. It pours clear deep amber with a medium white head. The nose is grainy, bread, light toast, straw and some fruity sweetness. The taste is bitter-sweet, caramel, graininess, generic soft fruits, some alcohol and underlying sweetness throughout with a dry, lightly bitter finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Not a whole lot to it really and perhaps a bit sweet. I can’t say I have ever really been a fan of this style, but this ranks fairly low for the ones I have had. Very so-so indeed.

Brewdog Shepherds Bush. Keg. Clear amber beer with a tidy pale cream coloured head. Smooth palate, slightly soft. The malt is similarly smooth and soft. Little ripe fruits and modest piney bitterness. Smooth dry finish with a mellow bitter linger. It’s not singing but it’s quite drinkable.
