Medium body. Verrassend goed.

Baltic porter from a brewery in Harlingen, northern Friesland; enjoyed at 3B in Sneek. Thick and dense, creamy, greyish beige, slowly opening but generally well-retaining head over a black beer with burgundy edges. Aroma of coffee grounds, wet leather, minerals, wood ashes, burnt cardboard even, ferrous spring water, wormwood, roasted chicory, black peppercorns. Clean malt-sweetish onset with vividly tingling, very minerally carbonation; smooth and rounded malt body, early roasted bitterness, toasted walnut, bit ashy and bonfire-like in the end with a long-lasting roasted chicory and coffee filter bitterness to it as well as this natural 'ferrous' effect (haemoglobin), a peppery hop bitterness lurking beneath all that roastiness and a warming, gin-like alcohol glow. Some powdery roasted bitterness lingers. What Kromme Haring's Muddy Waters, another Dutch Baltic porter tasted the day before, lacked in roasted bitterness, this one has in abundance - so I am rating this one higher. Well done and a nice first encounter with a brewing initiative I had never heard of before I set foot in Friesland.

Fles op vakantie geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een donkerbruin tot zwart bier met een volle schuimkraag. Het heeft een rokerige geur. De smaak is moutig, gebrand, rokerig en turf achtig.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Malt, caramel and licorice in the aroma and flavor. Sweetish. Salty., Thinnish. Not unpleasant, but lacks character.

33 c bottle, almost 2 years old. Pours a deep dark brown colour, not opaque black. Firm rocky beige head with pretty long retention. Aroma's: soft roasted, a bit mocha, slightly oxydized, sweetish. Retronasal it's light sweet, a bit fruity, light roasted. Flavour is moderate sweet and roasted, a bit drop/licorice. Light medium bodied. Light roasty bitter finish. Decent, but not memorable, but I might have to retry with a fresher bottle.

Shared a growler of this. A pleasant Baltic porter, albeit quite boring. A clean malt profile, although here I would've expected a bit more complexity; maybe some more forward chocolate or caramel malt. Medium bitterness. Very drinkable for the abv and a solid beer, just not standing out in a specific way.

Bottle at Camping Seedune, Schiermonnikoog. Deep burgundy with tan head, almost opaque. Sweet malts, caramel, red fruit and dried fruit, roasted barley, all under a firm blanket of dust. Quite sweet and bitter. Under medium body and soft carbonation. Raspy bitter brown malt water with Roosvicee. “Not so good Al”..

Black beer, small head. Aroma is roast, malt, hint of coffee. Taste is the same, some chocolate flavour and bitterness, not bad.
