Red Agnes

Schramm’s Red Agnes is more finely balanced and perceivably less sweet than her Scottish cousin, Black Agnes. Red currants provide deep floral aromatics, a fruitier initial impression, more focused acidity, and a stunning cardinal hue. Lighter and more quaffable than Black Agnes, this mead is dangerously drinkable with a delicately balanced acidity which allows the honey and fruit to sing in harmony together.

TST/TWAT. Sampled from bottle at kevin’s. Thanks for sharing! Fiery red with no head. Big sweet fruity honey. Rich and dense. Red currant, red apple, cherry skins, tannins, nutmeg, touched by dry old floorplanks. Big sweet and crisp tartness. Over medium body, slick, sticky and velvety. As good as no carbonation. Dry woody tannins. Medium dry and rich fruity. As good as it gets? Such an amazing good blend of fruit and honey. --- Beer merged from original tick of Red Agnes on 09 Jan 2018 at 11:29 - Score: 9

Bottle shared at The Sweetest Tasting. Clear ruby with no head. Flowery honey, red currant, raspberries, soft wood, grapes. The aroma is quite what you’d expect. Taste is great lingering sweetness with a sour berry kick and soft bitter finish. Over medium bodied with dry finish. No carbonation. Great.
