Keg at the Mermaid - Clapton. Pours totally clear yellow-gold with a firm, creamy white topping. A little phenolic accent in the aroma, dried wheat dough, yeast. Medium sweet flavour with dense wheat bread, lemon meringue, subtle yeast expression, ripe citrus, a little booze, pale grains, straw. Medium to full bodied, a little oily and chewy, with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, a little sticky, with more doughy wheat bread, ripe lemon, white sugar, meringue, faint vanilla, warming alcohol. It’s OK I guess, but not very drinkable.

Bottle. Clear golden color, fine white head with good retention and solid lacing. Fruity floral aroma. Taste is mead-like floral honey. Interesting.

12 ounce bottle from State Line. Pours all head. Eventually settles into a slightly hazy amber with a large, foamy meringue-like white head, good retention. Aroma of honey, bready malt, apricot, smoke. The taste is citrus, honey, pale bready malt. Medium bodied.

Clear golden coloured body with a copper glow and a very thin, super fast-dying off-white head. Aroma of grass, pollen, hay, honey (of course) and a bit of funky grainy malt - like a cheap lager beer. Light-bodied; Assertive grassy and honey sweetness at first with some light malt, a touch of sour funky flavours and a bit of sweetness from honey at the end. Aftertaste is rich and sweet with the honey showing up large at first with some citrus, grain, earth, caster sugar and a bit of apple sweetness as well. Overall, a decent beer with a distinct clear and classy flavour profile with some pungent honey and sweet flavours that make this easy to drink and fitting to the name of the beer at least. Good to sample, but definitely not worth searching out for! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 03-December-2016 for US$2,50 sampled at home in Washington just a month later on 10-January-2017.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 3/18/2017. Pours crystal clear medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big apricot, orange, melon, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, honey, biscuit, herbal, floral, wood, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, honey, and bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big apricot, orange, melon, pear, apple, white grape, peppercorn, clove, light banana/bubblegum, honey, biscuit, herbal, floral, wood, and yeast earthiness. Moderate herbal bitterness and yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of apricot, orange, melon, pear, apple, white grape, pepper, clove, honey, biscuit, herbal, floral, wood, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, honey, and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately grainy/bready/sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 7%. Overall this is a very nice saison! All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, honey, and bready malt flavors; very smooth, easy, and a bit crisp to drink. A bit malty for the style, but still has plenty of bitter/spicy dryness. A very enjoyably offering.

On tap at Paradiso Georgetown, pours a clear, dark gold with just a little white head. Nose has a lot of yeasty esters, some booze, plenty of honey, straw. Tastes like carbonated honey and spice, more mead than anything, but I suppose there is some doughyness lurking. A bit much.
