Inspired by the survival horror series Resident Evil, Protocol pays tribute to the creeping tension, shadowy corridors, and biohazardous nightmares of Raccoon City. This rich, dark pumpkin spiced stout delivers smooth roasted malt character layered with warming spices of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove - just like your favourite autumn treat, with a sinister twist. Just like the game, it's intense, atmospheric, and best enjoyed with the lights off.

Very deep brown with a tan head. Somewhat thin bodied, which is surprising. Mostly pumpkin pie spices with just a touch of malt. A bit sweet. Not much character.

Large sample (hand pull) in The Boot on 16th November 2025. Black bodied, beige head. Pumpkin aroma and initial taste, loads of spices in there too, some liquorice notes and pretty sweet overall. A bit too sickly for me to buy any!

On cask at the Guildford Arms.
Appearance - close to matt black. Beige head.
Nose - some chocolate and sweet spices.
Taste - more of the same, cinnamon, nutmeg and chocolate.
Palate - medium bodied, sweet and lightly spicy.
Overall - each sip got more and more sickly. The pumpkin was completely disguised by the overkill of sweet spices.

Cheeky afternoon walk to the pub, sanctioned by work as 'personal development time'. Beer is warming, sweet and smooth. Decent.

York Beer Festival 2025, Beer#16. Black, crisp, mild liquorice notes in taste, which linger, and are somewhat rich.
