Warm coffee and cinnamon complement a smooth chocolate flavor in our full-bodied stout. With just a hint of chile heat from fresh habaneros and the addition of cacao nibs and local coffee, Mexicali Stout captures everything you would expect from a traditional molè.

Pounder from TJ's for $3ish. Pint glass @home. Opaque, dark brown, russet pour. Tall pour but not much of the sandy tan head. Hot cocoa mix, faint cinnamon & a slight tickle on my nose from the chilis. Very weak coffee. Frothy, milkshake thick. Bittersweet cocoa with a very forward + very lingering cayenne burn, Big Red cinnamon bite & a mildly earthy coffee finish that comes through more as it warms. Calcium, medium high acid & medium low carbonation. Feels a bit stronger than it really is. Half a step too spicy to be sessionable. Kinda good.

3 month old pint can A: Pitch black pour save for low purple hues under light. Crackling 1/4 head that fell pretty fast. S: Light scent of bitter chocolate, cocoa powder and black coffee. T: Bitter, sweet and increasingly hot as coffee and chocolate battle the chili; then a hit of cinnamon to top it off. It all holds together somehow and of course the chili heat lingers. M: Smooth, light and moderately carbonated with lightly ashy finish. O: This pulls off quite a trick, as there's a lot going on. Too much for my tastes. It's impressive but I probably couldn't drink two.

Sample at Foggy Mountain Brew Pub. Brown-black color with a medium tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of malt, chocolate and chili pepper. Light to medium body with flavors of roast malt, bakers chocolate and mild pepper. The finish is chocolatey and spicy with a short peppery aftertaste. Decent overall.

Location: Draft at World of Beer, Charlotte, 1/19/15, 50th Sweet Stout rating!
Aroma: The nose is lightly sweet, chocolate, cinnamon/nutmeg, and chili pepper.
Appearance: Dark brown color with a small light brown head and medium, streaky lacing.
Flavor: The flavor is lightly sweet, chocolate and roast, mild spice, minimal pepper.
Palate: Medium bodied, creamy and very easy drinking, smooth, and with a soft carbonation.
Overall Impression: I liked this. The pepper is light in the nose and very light in the flavor. I expected more pepper, but I'm okay with it not being there, and the beer is probably better for that. Great mouthfeel. Very good beer.

A deep dark stout with a thin brown head. In aroma, nice bitter chocolate with light soy sauce, chili, coffee grind, very nice. In mouth, a nice bitter chocolate with grassy hops, light licorice, light cinnamon, pleasant. On tap at brewery.
