The Aromas are musty, Floral, vinegar and a hint of strawberry. Flavors are very much like nose, sweet tart with very little strawberry. Carbonation is good and so is body except for some thinning in the Finish along with some metallic.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks Yoav. Murky reddish golden. Strawberry, earth, a bit of spiciness, lots of yeast, some funk, sweetish, buckwheat, light tartness, medium-bodied.

Very nice strawberry sour, tart and fruity yet not overbearingly so. Nose gives off a yeasty berry aroma, and the pour’s a lovely hazed gold with a modest head and light lace. Taste starts with a citric sourness, then moves into a tart berry middle, strawberries on top of a toasted biscuit malt base. Stays mostly dry, and a very mild bit of funk pops up on the finish, leading to a tart, bright strawberry finish. Crisp, sparkly texture. Very good beer.

Bottle from CYO. Pours a cloudy, copperish orange with a two fingers of off-white foam that lingers. Lush strawberry aroma upon opening. Dry, musty hay on the palate with wild strawberry, some apricot too. A little peppery finish. The strawberry and buckwheat (which has strawberry undertones anyway) mesh well. --- Beer merged from original tick of Native Series Buckwheat Strawberry on 24 Apr 2017 at 22:10 - Score: 8. Bottle, 2016, drunk 2/19/17.
Light blonde with a brassy-amber hue and a light translucent haze. Beige-amber-flecked head is medium-sized and shows moderate to strong retention.
Fruity in the nose, unsurprisingly, with a moderate jammy strawberry character that seems like it could begin to dominate/fatigue. Fortunately, it gives way to a bright acidity with esters and phenols adding a more dry character alongside the signature cereal, almost corn-like character of buckwheat. Some honey and vanilla near the finish with light lime and lots of dusty cellar and minerality on the end. Still retains the strawberry jam character, which tends towards dominance, but the berries are obviously authentic and well-done here and enjoyable in their own right, so it’s hard to mind too much. No alcohol or flaw.
In the mouth it shows a low but tight carbonation that finds slick fruit and malt sugars combining with a juicy, lip-smacking acidity and plentiful jammy fruit flavors. Tart, leathery and peppery yeast notes help break up the fruit while the malt and buckwheat add some depth to the beer in the form of cereal grain, honey and vanilla. Slightly medicinal-like with lots of pepper and other interesting, native yeast-induced notes and of course, the strawberries. Yep, sort of an experimental, wild-fermented fruit beer and obviously nothing like a traditional saison, but I thought it was endearing enough and the acidity helped balance the sugar just enough to keep it drinkable.
