[Cask at the Back of Beyond (JDW), Reading.] A dark pour with a purple gleam and a tight beige head; aroma of dark berries and stone fruit; smooth and dry in the mouth with blackcurrants and a hint of chocolate; then a smooth dry fruity finish with an undercurrent of bitterness.

Wetherspoon 2025 Autumn Beer Festival. Ale#11 of 26 untried possibilities at the fest. Lovely smooth texture and dark malt base, with a lingering exotic fruitiness to compliment the aforementioned.

Cask at Wheatsheaf, Stoke-on-Trent. Pours almost black with a small frothy tan head. There’s an earthy aroma with oranges and tropical fruit. In the mouth it starts off sweet and creamy but very quickly becomes quite bitter with flavours of liquorice, roasted malts and tropical fruits. Later on there are traces of stone fruits and blackcurrant. A little bitterness in the finish. This is somewhat disappointing. Decent enough but a little strange.
