A rich aroma of hops and malt develops a full texture in the mouth. It has a long, deep, bitter-sweet finish. Without doubt an exceptional best bitter.

Ingredients: Maris Otter pale malt. Challenger and East Kent Goldings hops.

[Second re-rate 25/12/2013, bottle from Mum & Dad as Muddy Wellies Original Ale – cheers!] Caramel, sweet, not much character but quite drinkable. 5/3/5/4/11
[Re-rate 26/11/2011, Bottle from Muddy Wellies’ stall at Cirencester Christmas Market] Deep amber with a moderate, off-white head. Rather fizzy. Sulphurous, farmyard flavour. Is there something wrong with this bottle? Not to my taste, I’m afraid. 6/4/4/2/9
[First rate: 14/4/2009 Bottle from Mum & as Bath Gem - cheers!] Amber with a small white head and soft carbonation. Tastes quite sweet, with lots of caramel and vanilla. Smooth, easy drinking and a little different to your average English ale; just a smidgeon of bitterness in the aftertaste. Pleasant enough, but unremarkable. 6/3/7/4/13 Score based on average of all rates.

En ESB-liknande eller som själva kallar den Premium amber ale. Massor av karamellkaraktär men tillräcklig humlebeska för att skapa bra balans. Både godissöt och torr, stram humle skapar sensationer i munnen. Välbalanserad. Mycket lyckad.

50 cl bottle, BBE 29.09.11
Rather light aroma has caramel, sweet bread-like malt and toffee. Flavour is bitter and bready, it has sweet toffee. Quite ok brew, but too much bread and toffee for me here.

Medium coarseish offwhite head. Brown body with light carbonation. Earthy caramelly prunes aroma with fruity notes. Dry-sweet fruity caramelly earthy taste with roasty spicy cinnamon notes. Smooth, soft mouthfeel. Mid-bodied. Dryish roasty spicy buttery aftertaste with earthy resiny notes. Raisins, honey, and chocolate also show up. Lovely balance and drinkability. Also quite subtle, complex and elegant. (0.5l bottle from beermerchants.)

500ml bottle. Pours dark amber with no head. Aroma is dark fruity malt, some coffee and boiled sweets. Taste starts with some fruity malt and has a light coffee, low bitter finish.

Bottle. Pours a rich, clear amber with a medium, white head. Decent malt aroma, with some caramel and hazelnut. Sweet, with brown sugar, toffee, light bread and caramel, but only faint, earthy bitters. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, with plenty more caramel maltiness, and a bit more hops. I liked this very much.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a deep amber with a neat creamy head. Typical skewed British hops in the nose with a little roast. Medium body only, roasted malts, a little nuts and a vague fruity whiff. Finish is lightly bitter with a vague citrusy touch. 221109
