Bottle thanks to JF, 04/05/14 Jedi Day or some such shit! Clear orange amber with a good sized white head that retains well. Nose carries floral notes, citric rind, straw, bitter orange. Taste comprises light yeast tones, grass, hint of caramel, mandarin, parfume, Irn Bru. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, crisp clean finale. Easy drinking but lacks any depth and comes over far to sweet for this style.

500ml Bottle: BBD 28 Feb 2015. Wasn’t sure what to pour this into so chose an old ’Home Ale’ half-pint tankard and poured it three times into it. Clearer than I thought it would be, golden in colour with a white head that didn’t stay on any of the pours. No farmyard smells, or any other aromas I could find. Not really any ’Saison’ flavours either. Not much going on, some hoppy dry and bitterness, some malty and fruity sweetness all bundled together: strange rather than interesting. Not a Saison as I know them, but a drinkable beer none the less.

Bottle at home from tesco. Aroma is is light orange, mineral and candied earthy orange. English yeast in the nose. Clear bright golden orange thin short lived head. Flavour is caramel malt, mineral . light toasted malt, and marmelade in the finish. Yeast character is english, so not really a saison. Some metallic mineral as well. Highish carbonation and fresh palate.

500ml bottle from Tesco drunk at home. Clear gold thin white head. Slight Belgian yeasty aroma. Some esters, some farmhouse yeast. Some citrus flavour. Like all these Revisionist beers, they are pretty decent flavourwise if a little underpowered and lacked intensity. It’s like they’ve gone 75% of the way there but pulled back. All brewed well. This is an ok yeasty golden ale.

Bottle from Tesco. Poured a crystal clear light amber with a thin frothy white head. The aroma is yeast, light citrus. The flavour is light bitter neutral veggie with a zesty veg herb palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A British saison. Not entirely authentic.

Sampled at Craft Beer Rising 2014 - Brick Lane, London. Keg. Pours clear, bright gold with a white cream topping. Doughy pale bread abounds with mild Belgian yeast character, melon and citrus. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation. OK finish, some lightly bitter hay, dry biscuits. Fair and drinkable.

Bottle. Nose is slight Belgian yeast, a little straw, very very thin. Taste is slight straw, herbal, leading to strawberry and summer fruits, and a dry slightly woody finish. There is a slight metallic note in the mid range. It’s not a terrible beer, but it’s hard to see an occasion one would drink over a proper Belgian Saison. The bottle promises it’s cold conditioned which is evidence enough that it’s brewed by idiots. I am also very unclear what is contemporary about its ’take’. Edit: As I got through this beer it deteriorated and the malt tastes came through at the expenses of the subtler elements. Taste downgraded.
