Bottle shared in London - sourced via trade. Pours black-brown with a small, creamy tan head. The nose holds scorched malts, baking cocoa, ash, burnt toffee, earth. Medium to heavy sweet flavour with deep, rounded chocolate character, raisins, dried berries, burnt wood, vanilla, earth, faint coffee. Full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish with massive chocolate character, baking cocoa, a little ash, coffee grounds, toasted vanilla. Excellent depth. Very well rounded. Outstanding.

Bottle, massive thanks to Ken. It pours jet black with a medium tan head. The aroma is rich, roasted malt, sweet, slick toffee, bourbon, vanilla, dried fruits, Black Forest gateaux and treacle. The taste is slick, rich roasted malt, vanilla, toasted down coconut, maple syrup, earth, treacle, wood and warming alcohol with a slick finish. Full body and fine, foamy carbonation. Slick and filthy.

375 ml bottle, bb 01/01/2018.
Black body, with a quite small, dense, creamy, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of bourbon, melting dark chocolate, caramel, vanilla, coffee, dark fruits, some alcohol.
Tastes of booze, bourbon, coffee, bitter chocolate, liquorice, cocoa powder, some dark fruits.
Full, oily mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes roasty-bitter, dry, medium boozy, with coffee, cocoa powder, liquorice, some dark chocolate.

Very nice. Lovely nose, with the typical bourbon barrel notes. Taste is too boozy though, with the alcohol quite dominant. Not among my favourite beers by this brewery, but a quite enjoyable sipper.

Thanks angst for the bottle. A stout made with syrup from Vermont in Sweden. Whoa. Pours like motor oil. Thick and syrupy. Two finger brown and creamy head appears at the very end of the pour. Fades quickly. Even at 40F, the aroma is potent. Almond joy, vanilla, coconut, chocolate and cream. Smells decadent. The flavor. Marshmallow and ashy charcoal and smoke. It’s just too burnt tasting for my preference. It is very close in aroma and mouthfeel to BCS but the flavor lacks the sweetness and long lasting flavor of the big honcho. It’s a very nice beer. The 375 split is perfect.
