440ml can from Craft & Berry. Gluten Free. Dark brown-black colour with reddish tinge, bubbly beige foam head and aroma of roast malt, ashy, chocolate, coffee, fruity hops. Taste is malty, roasted, oats, with chocolate, coffee, and some earthy hop bitterness. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, drying roasty bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Can. Mitchell’s Wines. Black in the glass. Very sturdy thick beige foam. Looks good. Nose has a suggestion of parkin with light ginger notes and some nutmeg. Taste is fairly dry with a hint of sweetness and a moderate bitterness. Feels pretty thin overall. There’s no body or depth despite the 5.2%. Thin watery bitter finish. Started off ok but disappeared into nothingness.

Nice bit of ginger spice throughout.

Sheffield CAMRA Beer Festival 2025, Beer#16. Keg bar. Black ale. The parkin element is obvious, somewhat cake-like, overbearing through a grittiness to be sessionable, but appealing enough on its own. This is a crisp keg pour example so quite appealing. Sweet nose.
