Alkoholischer, holzig würziger Beginn. Cremig, intensiv, erhöhte Viskosität, kaum karbonisiert. Vollmundig, ölig, langer würziger Abgang. Gut! 10/11/11/11/10/11

Bottle at home. Opaque dark brown color, red hue coming through when held into the light, average sized beige head. Aroma and flavor are malts, whiskey, distant grainy notes, some wood notes, decent to medium bitter. Lightly sticky texture. Solid beer.

330 bottle. Pours black with short tan head. Aromas of chocolate nougat, graham cracker, sweet woody whiskey, black coffee, and roasted malts. Flavors follow same with additional dark fruit. Most excellent. Wow. The way barrel aged beers were delivered pre COVID and always should be.

0.33 l bottle from 'SpeciaalBierPakket.nl', best before September 2030. Almost clear, very dark ruby, barely any head. Intensely sweetish-malty, gently fruity aroma of molasses, dark honey, chestnut, whisky, vanilla, raisins and prunes. Rather sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently boozy, slightly fruity taste of molasses, sherry, whisky, vanilla, chestnut, raisins, prunes, dark honey, dates, some chocolate and traces of licorice root, followed by a long, moderately bitter, gently boozy finish. Full body, oily mouthfeel, flat. Lovely Barley Wine, very complex and intense, maybe a tad too boozy.

Bottle from Drankenspeciaalzaak Jelle, Leeuwarden. Super smooth with lots of vanilla, whiskey, oak, caramel, brown malts, butterscotch, toffee, dried fruit. Medium sweet, not boozy. Full and velvety mouthfeel, best Olivier to date.
