Bavarian-style wheat beer. A very refreshing and effervescent unfiltered ale with pronounced notes of banana and clove. Weizen is lightly hopped, and has abundant carbonation and a pleasant citric tartness. Especially nice during the hot days of summer.

This beer pours a cloudy yellow-orange color with a medium thin white head that evaporates relatively fast. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, grainy malt and spice. Medium body with flavors of malt, mildly tart fruit and cloves. The finish is malty with a sweet aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Bottle, slmost no head whatsoever, murky light orange colour, aroma of bubblegum, candy and some spicey touches, almondy flavour with bubblegum and some fruitiness, pleasant sour fruity aftertaste. Nice true to the style weizen.

Pours hazy gold into a Sam glass. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface. Sour wheat aromas. Sweet wheat upfront before the lasting slight lemon finish.

No head or lace. Awesome hazy, un-filtered gold color. Loads of bubblegum and fruit nose. Smells great and the taste follows exactly what a hefeweizen should be. Light carbonation and had a bit of tart finish. Very nicely done hefe and would drink anytime. Very strong effort from an American brewer of a fine German style.

Bottle. Beer of the month club. Cloudy orange color with a nice big creamy white head. Aroma of banana, wheat, a bit of bubblegum and some clove notes. Sweetish fruity flavor with wheat, light grainy notes, and a finish with light bitterness-sourness. Medium-bodied. A decent refreshing Weizen.

Bottle pour. A little lackluster from at the start. Pours a light gold with only mild haziness. Barely any head. Nice clove, wheat and yeast aroma, which gives way to a pleasant, fruity flavor. Light bread hints and some sweet and tangy characteristics. Nice, medium bodied and well carbonated. This hefe builds to a decent finish, but nowhere near what I would like to experience.

Updating this rating with a bottle I had 1/16/10

Overall Impression: I didn't like this one this one as much as my previous rating would suggest. Something seemed just a bit off on the flavor on this one, so I'm going to lower the score accordingly. Maybe this beer is inconsistent? I'm sure I'll revisit at some point...(2.8)

December 2008 Beer of the Month Club

Overall Impression: Liked this one a lot, for it's style. Really quite a good American Hefeweizen. (3.2)

12 oz bottle courtesy of eaglefan538. Pour is hazed white golden with an out of control fizzy white head. 5 inches at least in my .4 L Kulmbacher glass. Head falls fast with loud crackling - this may be the loudest beer I have encountered. Aroma of earthy hay banana esthers and cloves. Full nose, quite pungent. Taste is big wheat, citric and earthy. Lemon tart citrus sweetness present, even a touch of smokiness. As the beer warms, the lemon really becomes dominant. Palate is medium to full bodied, dense flavors, yet still manages to be slick and drinkable. Interesting palate. Good beer, quite a lot going on, though it is a touch unrefined in its transitions between flavors. Thanks for sending this to me Brian.
