Our latest edition of Free Rise, one of our signature saisons, highlights locally sourced Danko Rye from Valley Malt and Mosaic in the dry hop. A nuanced fruity hop profile is balanced with subtle, crisp malt character and expressive notes of pepper and clove. Light in body, with a clean, bone-dry finish, Mosaic Dry Hopped Free Rise is a welcomed addition to our family of farmhouse ales.

5.8/10 Appearance 10 Aroma 5 Flavor 5 Texture 6 Overall 5
Bottled 4/27/16, drunk 5/26/16.
Strong appearance, as usual with low haziness and a huge white head with strong retention.
Big notes of bread, light banana, pineapple and various other fruits. A bit of pepper mixing in and perhaps a touch of alcohol.
Bready, rather mushy malts despite it not being sweet. There’s a sourdough character that is rather fatiguing and light heat from the alcohol, as well as moderate bitterness. Don’t know exactly what it is with Sunshower and Free Rise but I don’t find them at all appealing. The yeast is pretty messy and the texture never really comes off like their pale ales and IPAs. Obviously they’re not intended to be traditional saisons, but even granting that, I still don’t find the Belgian qualities, which are quite vague, to be charming/rustic/elegant in the least. Didn’t finish my glass.

Pours pale gold into a snifter. Bright white head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet yeast and tropical fruit aromas. Soft with sweet caramel, mango and pineapple. For some reason this version tastes more like a Kolsch to me...

Thanks Willrunforbeer for the share of this 750 ml bottle with a date of 05/12/16. The color is a near clear gold urine color. Aroma is mild really mild Mosaic hops, weak yeasty hints, not much else.

Flavor shows the light grass / onion thing right up front. The yeast is in the texture and it somehow has a bit of bitterness. The bitterness is a tad off for a "saison". Body is light and borderline watery. Yeah, not this Brewers strong suit. Still decent.
