From tap at Jopen Proeflokaal Amsterdam. Aroma is coffee, roasted malt, some chocolate, dark/red fruity notes, hint of hops. Flavour is light sweet and moderate to medium bitter. Body is medium. Fruits are rather subtle, but there’s a fine coffee Stout beneath.

Clear dark brown flavour, off-white head. Aroma of chocolate and caramel. Sweet flavour, caramel, hint of coffee. Finish bitter coffee and dark bitter chocolate. Nice, didn’t get the blackberries though.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 18 Feb 2016) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy beige head. Malty, fruity nose with coffee, chocolate and blackberries. Malty, fruity taste with notes of coffee, chocolate, blackberries and a balanced cacao bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Tasty and well made, with a balanced blackberry flavour. Nice one.

From bottle at Winterbierfestival Gouda 2016. Clear, dark brownish amber. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of raisins, dark chocolate, brown sugar and caramel. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity, spicy taste of dark chocolate, coffee, some caramel and blackberries, followed by a short, medium bitter, spicy finish. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel, flat. Okay.

Thank you for sharing people! 330 ml. bottle sampled @ “Gouda Winterbier Festival 2016”. Black, dark red brown, mocha bubbles. Nose is sweet syrupy umami chocolate, cheap chocolate, chicory. Taste is herbal, smoked & burned herbs, dirty coffee grounds, sugar, lightly watery, herbal,… Watery herbs & dash chocolate body. Not getting the fruit, very weak especially for what it was supposed to be.

Pint Winterbierfestival, Gouda 2016.
