Sherry Brandy Barrel Aged Imperial Stout
Solera is our Sherry Brandy Barrel Aged Imperial Stout that we had the honour, the privilege and the luck of being able to age in stunning 500l Spanish Sherry Butts. It comes at 11.9% abv and in the brewery we all had a similar opinion: "this is something different". We could all pick a number of different flavours, among them: warm brandy, touches of vanilla, raisin, prune, some nutty undertones. A real treat for the palate, perfect for after dinner relax and meditation.

Black with a medium tan head. Roasty malts, chocolate syrup, wood, toffee, sherry, dark ripe fruits. Full bodied. Finish has some booze over a tangy fruity note with some wood. Could be a bit more smoothed out. As the booze gives it a sharp edge that detracts some, but otherwise a nice beer.

Can. Near opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Airy palate, smooth and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation, fine for the style. Airy dark malts, a little dark malt cream, touch of darkish chocolate. Obvious brandy vibes, light and a little ripe fruity, doesn't have the sumptuous richness of the best brandy but, does have the rich very ripe fruitiness of decent sherry. Touches of esters and alcohol spice. Different and pretty drinkable.

Panda from Colin. Cheers. Dark and glossy brown. Foamy dark beige head. Aroma has sherry booziness with soft berries over creamy coffee and nuts. Flavourwise there's initial sweetness - cream liqour - with a berry sherry edge. Molasses. Fruit cake. A boozy nip. Medium bodied. Creamy. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long astringent finish. Yep.

Can at home, from Craft Central.ie, 25/12/2025.
Black with a khaki cap that thins to a swirl.
Nose is dark malts, raisins, figs, sherry vibes, vinous, toffee, dried fruit esters.
Taste comprises chocolate, stewed fruits, light roast, booze tunes, sherry vibes, raisins, modest brandy schmack.
Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced nip of alcohol.
Sips fine for the ABV if lacking a little depth but good for the price point with a sherry brandy presence.

Can. Color: Black, frothy brown head. Aroma: Fruity Sherry, almond, subtle roasted malt. Taste: A little overwhelming Sherry, nicely combined with almond and some roasted malt, coffee and oak wood notes. Medium body, a bit thin bodied. Below average carbonation. Moderate bittetness and moderate to over moderate sweetness. Alcohol is pretty well hidden. Ok overall.
