This truly unique American sour ale begins by taking our Brother David’s Triple wort from the kettle and adding it to wine barrels to undergo a 100% barrel fermentation with wild yeast and bacteria. After several months, a healthy dose of black currants is added and the beer begins an extended aging process in the barrel until it has matured and reached the perfect balance of sourness and complexity. Thribble Currant pours to a deep burgundy color with a bracing sourness and subtle sweetness with hints of oak, dark fruit, and wild berry.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 1 March 2020) Reddish amber colour with foamy, off-white head. Fruity, sourish nose with black-currant, raspberries and red fruit. Fruity, tart taste with notes of red fruit, black-currant, raspberries and a warming finish with a lemony tartness. Full body, thick and chewy moutfeel. Quite dry. Rich and really tasty. Very nice.

Aromaz are must, leather, vinegar and a little bit of fruit. Flavors are similar to nose, acidity stands out in front with a little bit of sweetness in back but very little. Vinegary finish and decent body. Bit too sour for me.

19th Jan 2018; part of a Flight at The Brewhouse, San Juan Capistrano. Almost maroon in colour, light pinkish head. A sour puss of a beer, with the blackcurrents coming through loud and clear. I would never have guessed the ABV was anywhere near 10%, God knows where it's hidden?
