At first look, you notice the big frothy head of this Raspberry Berliner Weisse. The bright notes of raspberries are balanced by refreshing tartness, followed by a wonderful fruity sweetness and clean finish.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a red-brown color with a large creamy-soapy pink-white head that lingered and left minimal lacing. The aroma was musty and yeasty with a vague berry note. The flavor was tart berries, pepper and yeast. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

12oz bottle I got out of the clearance cart for 99 cent. I usually wouldn’t buy a SA beer otherwise. So, I like the tart the and light finish to the beer. A little raspberry jam in there. IT comes close to the artificial, Lindemans like, raspberry flavor but not quiet as sweet. The problem is its not longer a berliner weisse but a tart fruit beer.

Bottle in a variety case. I knew I would like this but wasn’t sure how much. Well, this is really good stuff. Nose is slightly metallic. Taste has a wild side to it, with all the tart sourness, yet the raspberry comes across as real and quite creamy, LOVELY. I don’t think there are many creamy beers but this is one, I had to make sure I tasted 2 bots just to make sure, heheh. Has a really attractive look about it, too. Maroon beer with a slight haze, there is sediment on the the bottom of the bottle. I’m serious, this stuff ROCKS!! Not a soda alky pop and not really a fruit beer, I’d like to try some of this without the raspberry, I bet it would rival the best real lambics. As is, this is one big raspbeeeeeeery experience! YEA!

12 ounce bottle from Wine & Beer Cellar, Rockville, MD, 4/28/16. Hazy dark red, thin foamy red head, decent retention. Aroma of wheat, cranberry, raspberry. The taste is raspberry, grapes, cranberry, wheat, a faint bit of lacto. Thin bodied, high carbonation.

Draft. Lactic raspberry, wheat malt, and straw aroma. Reddish amber with large head. Moderate sweet-tart raspberry, wheat malt, and mildly bitter straw flavor. Nice body. Solid.

12oz bottle. Deep purple-red body. Really deep raspberry tones balance out the sourness. Pretty solid beer all around. There isn’t much depth beyond the big raspberry and sour, not really much of a Berliner Weisse as much as a solid raspberry sour. Good, would be a great one to throw into a blind tasting.
