Back in merry olde England, the roadside inns were abuzz with banter and smiling glances from buxom barmaids - barmaids who, we might add, brewed the ale they served. In their honor, our brewers treat each batch of Dundee English-Style Ale they brew with the same love and care as the barmaids of old, combining pale and caramel malts with Columbus and Cascade hops for a malty, slightly sweet finish. Now, if only they’d stop dressing like barmaids...

Bottle at mike’s house, thanks )for the brew. Brilliantly clear golden bordering on amber with a decent sized bubbly white head that persists. Fruity caramel and toffee. Not too bad.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a caramel-golden color with a huge foamy orange-tan head that towered over the glass, lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was malty, tart and fruity. The flavor was bitter with sour caramel, bread and crisp fruity hops. Medium length finish. Medium body. Meh.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, bottled on 12/8/2014. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy orange/amber color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, plum, pear, apple, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, plum, pear, apple, herbal, grass, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Light earthy/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, light nuttiness, plum, pear, apple, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Good balance, complexity, and robustness of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a great crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is a good English pale ale style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Tap at Genesee Brewhouse. Bit of sweet malt in the nose. Flavor is sweet, honey, and almost no hops. Pretty lame.
