New this year is an very limited run of Rum Barrel-Aged Gonzo. That’s right, RUM. The famed Max’s Taphouse in Baltimore got their hands on some South American rum barrels, which we were more than happy to take off their hands for the greater good of the Gonzo. Bottles of this bad boy are also available exclusively at Flying Dog and draft is only at Max’s.

2015 bottle. Boozy pour. Black brown. Had mellowed quite a bit due to age, but hints of fruit and molasses

Plenty of rum here with some roast and musky chocolate. Barreling comes on a little heavy here, with lots of boozy aroma. Black pour with ok head and lacing. Bitter boozy and sweer finish. Tap at pizza paradiso.

Bottle at RBWG ’15 Grand Tasting @ Coppertail, thanks to whomever shared this one, 21/02/15. Black with a dirty tan head. Nose is rich roast, spice, chocolate, liqourice. Taste comprises subtle rum, chocolate, molasses, dark fruit rinds, spice. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent impy, nice rum tunes, good balance and drinks below the ABV.

Bottle shared during the RBWG 2015 Grand Tasting. Thanks for this obscure treat. Pours oily black with a cream, tan head. Light sharpness in the aroma, some fusel alcohol notes, dark fruits. Medium sweet flavor with lots of burnt wood character, raisins, tannins. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish, chewy, with lots of charcoal, earth, baking cocoa and leathery fruits. Not bad overall.

Draft at Flying Dog as part of the tasting set, 4 oz or so? Served a bit cold. Dark brownish black with tan head. Aromas of rum, oak, dark chocolate. Tastes of rum, dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, spice. Full body with a dry finish. Rum is well-balanced and not hot at all. Delicious.
