Tap at The Grand Delancey. Huge coffee punch, intense maple notes and a touch of smoke that might be the bacon but it might be coming from the maple as well. Creamy, a bit thin bodied with soft carbo.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a nice, fairly rich three to four centimetre tall lighter brown body that stays afloat for a few seconds and then somehow fades to just about nothing after a minute or so, not leaving a trace on top at all. Aroma of rich smoked notes with bacon, pork and soy sauce all noticeable, along with a good deal of roasted malts, some caramel, a bunch of vanilla, lactose and coffee and finishing with some dry and burnt chocolate components here - very strong in the nose. Medium to Full-bodied; Very rich, creamy, but deep profile that shows the smoked notes, some soy sauce and umami flavours with a lot of caramelised sugars, toffee, earth and rustic finishes with some dryness, but more associated with the yeast and alcohol that is picked up very strongly at the finish. Aftertaste shows a lot of bitterness, from the malts to some very light hops and even with the yeast and pungent lactose that comes through at the tail end makes this robust and deep throughout. Overall, a nice and deep, fairly pungent, but strongly flavourful and complex beer with a lot of notes across the spectrum, from the smoke to the sweetness and finishing with a dry and bitter quality, but the underlying character and complexity reigns supreme here in a good way. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in Laurel, Maryland on 20-July-2022 for US$2,79 sampled at my house here in Washington on 12-November-2022 as it starts to get slightly chilly for the first day here in the season.
