Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a dark brown thin foamy head with some retention and some lacing notes. Aroma of chocolate notes with some bourbon notes and cocoa notes are dominant. Taste is also a mix of chocolate notes with some bourbon notes and cocoa powder notes with residual sugar notes. Body is full with an oily texture and low carbonation with light discernible alcohol notes. This is tasting closer to a stout than a barleywine but enjoyable nonetheless.

750ml bottle that pours a real dark brown colour with no highlights, a small warm-mocha head that does not leave much behind. Raisin aromas with light chocolate notes, a roasted malt base, booze, nuttiness and hints of caramel, wood-vanilla-Bourbon. A little oily mouthfeel with good dryness that cuts the thickness. Again, the Bourbon flavours come out nicely with the raisins, wood, tad vanilla with the roasted barley. A touch of nuts, tart left on the tongue. Another Barleywine, that reminds me more of their Imperial Stouts, with the good Bourbon barrel notes.

A deep dark barleywine with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, light vinous character, bourbon barrel notes, woody notes, alcohol warmth, very nice and rich. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, light mineral notes, light vinous character, alcohol warmth, light licorice, very nice and rich. On tap at Hautes Plaines location.
