German-style sour dark adambier brewed in collaboration with Freigeist. Fermented with ale yeast, lager yeast, and other things, a wild mix of uber-good flavors is created in this ancient Germal-style Sour Dark Adambier from centuries ago. Working in collaboration with our friend, historian, and brewmaster Sebastian Sauer from Freigeist Brewery in Cologne, Germany, we made this old-style beer with a wide array of German malts for a rich, authentic taste. Prost - Cheers!

Backlog. Deep brown colour with a creamy beigeish brown head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is dried fruits, caramel, some burnt sugar, roasted tones with mild smoked wet wooden elements too. Flavour is rather similar but also has some cherries, old cold coffee and mild ashy tones to it. Interesting.

Bottle at Goblet. Thx Hrabren! Shared with PBF Pivica, Prof. B and veceo. Pitch blackish, brownish head going away soon, tiny to begin with. Lovely raisins, chocolate and some vague grape tartness. Smooth and creamy. Lean, dry taste, plum jam largely, lightly ashy, some dark chocolate, if in traces. Some roastiness, really thin dark plum jam. Really interesting and drinkable for the ABV. The tartness doesn't impress but it all somewhat works in the end. Really glad I got to try probably the last bottle in Croatia!

0.65 l bottle from 'Beergium', cellared for over two years. Black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, light brown head. Sweetish-malty, sourish, quite fruity and a little roasty aroma of prunes, raisins, blackcurrant, molasses, some dark chocolate and traces of soy sauce. Fairly sweet, malty, moderately sour, slightly roasty, rather fruity taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, prunes, raisins, blackcurrant, some molasses and a touch of soy sauce, followed by a medium long, gently roasty-bitter, earthy and slightly tart finish. Medium to full body, smooth, a little astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation. Really tasty and rich beer, somewhere between HotD's Adam and The Monarchy's Methusalem. Really like this style!

Bottled 650ml. -at Pivoteka Zagreb. Almost black coloured, medium sized brown head, dark chocolate and slightly metalic whiff in the nose. Roasted malt, dark chocolate, dried fruits, berries and touch of caramel with mild cherry like notes. Sweet and sour combo here, interesting one.

650ml bottle. Opaque, jet black colour with late awakening, small, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Tart-ish, woody, oaky, tannic and roasty dark malty aroma, hints of dark chocolate, morello, red berries, yeasty spicy overtones with a marmite touch. Taste is dry, tart, woody, oaky, roasty dark malty, hints of morello, red berries, dark chocolate, yeasty spicy overtones. Well balanced, mild tartness, an undercomplex/simplified Flemish Oud Bruin with dark chocolate. Unusual and fascinating, maybe not exactly a "like and hate alike thing", but leaves me behind a bit indecisive, eventually not sufficiently convincing for a considerably better score (like the one domino not willing to topple, thereby breaking off the knock-on effect).

Bottled. A black beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, berries, and chocolate. The flavor is a bit acidic with notes of dark chocolate, smoke, brettanomyces, roasted malt, and berries, leading to a dry finish.
