It is a fact that Dan, our New Glarus Brewmaster, loves pumpkin pie. So it was inevitable that one day beer and pie would collide. No holiday is complete at our home without home baked pumpkin pie. Just as Dan once baked this pie for Deb, he now creates this brew for you.

First, Wisconsin grown wheat simmers with fresh Wisconsin Pumpkin and German Munich Malt. Then he thoroughly stirs in Idaho grown Celeia Hops. Fresh Bavarian Weizen yeast is then ladled into the open top fermentors and a final bottle conditioning makes this beer 100% naturally carbonated. This rich brown Weisse beer pours an elegant spicy nose with a thick creamy head. This Pumpkin Weisse is sure to satisfy your soul’s Pie Lust.

Cheers!

Bottle. Pumpkin malt and pie spices aroma. Clear amber with a large beige head. Wheaty pumpkin malt, yeast, and clove flavor. Medium creamy body, moderate carbonation. It’s nice to find a brewer who understands what good cooks know. A lighter hand on the spices so they compliment, rather than stand out front and center.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber orange with a near white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a decent amount of spice with some earthy pumpkin and grain backing. Flavor is spice forward with a note of earthy pumpkin with some sweet grains supporting.

Enjoyed at a friends house in River Hills, WI. I didn’t take tasting notes on this one, but remember this being nicely done, moderate brown brew with a huge billowy white head and flavor that was equal parts pumpkin and yam. Would definitely have again.

Bottle courtesy of and shared with Meadme.

Shared by Skyview; thanks Bob. Mild pumpkin and squash flavor. Very light spice. Not much pumpkin character, and thin, light malt flavor. More of a squash flavored beer than what we think of for pumpkin beer..

Bottle received in trade. Thank you hackobock! Pours murky reddish orangish brown with a frothy and creamy beige head that leaves some lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is slightly malty, slightly estery and spicy with wheat crackers, caramel, pie crust, pumpkin, banana, hay, cloves, nutmeg, ginger and lemon peal. Taste is slightly bitter, tiny sour, spicy and slightly estery with dark bread, pumpkin, freshly grated ginger, moist hay, moist soil, minerals, cloves, nutmeg, allspice and lemon peal. Mouthfeel is dry, tiny tart, slightly spicy astringent and medium bodied. Finish is tiny bitter and tiny sour with dark bread, fresh ginger, unripe banana, moist hay, cloves, nutmeg, allspice and lemon zest. Nose is very balanced and gives a nice pumpkin pie feeling but the taste is dominated by freshly grated earthy ginger which throws me off a little. Not a huge fan of pumpkin beers but this one I’d say is quite alright.
