Yeeeeeeesssss! - I’ve been waiting for years for New Glarus to start making this beer again - dark gold with a very light haze - creamy lace - nose of crusty bread, floral hops, light bitterness, mild mineral, a touch of honey - creamy texture, moderate, frothy carbonation - light acidic tanginess up front - moderate, clean malty sweetness follows - middle and finish has some bready character, followed by some grassy, lightly floral, lightly bitter hops - sadly, there is also slight buttery diacetyl and some notes of corn that really lessen the enjoyment - dang - I’ve been waiting so long for this and it really falls short of expectations - there’s much more good than bad, but the mild off notes make me sad.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of madvike. Thanks! Pours a lightly hazed pale yellow color with a thin head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of bread and caramel with some fruity notes. Taste is bready and yeasty with apple, peach, caramel, mildly hoppy finish. Medium bodied, fairly strong carbonation. This is insanely drinkable.

Enjoyed in bottle form, very similar to Surly’s \"Hell\" Lager from this past year. The yeast aftertaste is very apparent, and while it’s light it has a very nice, smooth aftertaste. It’s smooth and not crisp, which is what I typically anticipate from the more mainstream lagers. If Old Style tasted more like this, I would drink it more often. Too bad I don’t live in WI and can’t purchase this often.

Bottle from allendodd. Thanks for this one. Pours hazy gold with a very nice creamy white head. Nice aroma of light malt, light citrus and noble hop. Delicious. Medium body with frothy/creamy carbonation. It’s clean. Flavor is pale malt, mild citrus and a bit of grass. It goes down a treat.

12oz bottle. Hazy orange-yellow color with a big foamy head. Lemony crisp aroma. Pretty straightforward classic stuff. Some light balancing hops and a sweet malt backbone. Creamy, with a nice yeast presence. Certainly spot on stylistically, hyper-sessionable, quality beer.

Bottle thanks to LTDan. Pours with a small white head over a murky yellow body. Aroma is sweet and grainy with notes of freshly baked bread. Taste is sweet and starchy with bakery sensations and a lightly fruity hop presence. Medium to high carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel.

Pours a hazy yellow-gold with a medium-level of head. Seems a bit over-carbonated. Nice flavor with some sweetness to balance the hops. Aroma is a bit thin. It’s a good beer, though not their best.

Sampled from bottle. Light hazy unfiltered yellow. Smell has some of the zest of an American wheat. Taste is light malts, a bit of spice. A pale lager with a few yeasty esters (but no yeast "bite"). I can also pick out some black pepper and German hops. Nice. Amazingly, my second Zwickel this week.

Bottle (trade with Ofortuna). Sour malt and hay aroma. Cloudy pale yellow with giant head. Lightly sour barley malt and dry musty flavor. Mildly bitter herbal hay finish. True to the style - a great beer as good if not better than most German bottled Zwickels.

Bottle courtesy of Monger: Poured a cloudy golden yellow color beer with a large foamy head with perfect retention. Aroma of floral malt with some spicy yeast notes is quite enjoyable. Taste is dominated by some nice floral notes and semi-sweet malt presence. Yeast is also noticeable and provides a spicy aspect to the beer with some crisp hops at the end. Body is full with limited filtration and great carbonation. I had this yesterday after a long hot and humid summer days so I might be slightly overrating this one but I still think it shows that great lager can be brewed as opposed to the crappy ones that flood the market.
