Bottle. Pours opaque dark brown with a small frothy dark beige head, bourbon aroma, low carbonation, medium bitter dark chocolate, oak, bourbon taste, coffee flavor, smooth body, long bourbon finish. Tasty but boozy.

Bottle to snifter. Pours pitch black with a thin, lasting beige head. Aroma is oaky, bourbon and chocolate. Taste is similar and boozy. Thick texture, a few steps below chewy. Pretty great overall, one of the only good brews out out by AB.

Draft at Harry’s Hofbrau. Rich, boozy and slightly chocolate in both aroma and flavor. Dusted chocolate comes out more on the flavor. This is one of the best years that I can remember….and certainly bests the 2015!

2025 bottle from a 4-pack. Pours a pitch black with chestnut highlights and a small beige head that lingers. Marzipan all over the nose with some oak, bourbon and vanilla notes as it warms. Palate is very similar, lots of marzipan notes - vanilla, bourbon and more marzipan. Boozy finish. Not bad, but not as good as recent years.

From November's BCS Media preview:
It’s always fun to come to a new vintage of the beer I first had at the brewpub, when the server asked if I would like to try their 1,000th batch. My impression was a deep bourbon smell, with chocolate and some molasses. Some cherry comes in as well, and some coffee, surrounded by a syrupy thickness. A “liquid dessert.”
