Barrel aged Imperial Stout w/ Vanilla beans, Cacao Nibs, & Coffee.

Bean is a 10-year old, adorable curmudgeon of a dog who loves visiting breweries and naps in the sun. For his namesake beer we blended stout from a couple bourbon barrels as old as he is, and then treated the beer with three of our favorite beans: vanilla, cacao, and coffee.

This stout spent an average of 21 months in a combination of 10-year Willett, 10-year Eagle Rare, 8-year Buffalo Trace, and 7-year Weller barrels, after which we infused it with vanilla beans from Alor Island, Indonesia, Ugandan cacao nibs, and Guatemalan coffee.

The beer drinks incredibly rich with bold bourbon and coffee aromas, some nice fruity notes from the freshly-roasted cacao, and with the vanilla beans bringing layers of creaminess and even more chocolate character. The barrels come through nicely in the finish and lend the beer a gentle warmth.

Pours black, no head. Scent is full, intense, chocolate and roast. Taste is full, roasty. Chocolate and quite a bit of vanilla. Syrupy, bit boozy. Simple, but not at all bad !

7/XI/25 - on tap @ Billies Craft Beer Festival Day 1 - Session 1 (Antwerp), BB: n/a (2025-1133) Thanks to all for sharing today’s beers!

Clear dark brown to almost black beer, no head. Aroma: very oxidized stout, soy sauce, a hint of vanilla, whisky, alcohol, a bit woody, lovely smell, just like a good old school B.A. stout. MF: soft carbon, full body. Taste: oh yes, good stuff, super, very intense, whisky, gentle roast, sugary, burned caramel. Aftertaste: vanilla, oxidized, soft acidity, fruity touch, very nice!
