Generally speaking, I'm not a fan of much molasses in beer as it tends to be overpowering. For the Aromas here, the Molasses do tend to dominate but are off set by some roast and dark malt. Flavors are similar to nose, but handle the Molasses much better. Molasses come off as complimenting rather than dominating. Beer is lightly sweet low bitter with decent carbonation and body. Good finish. Overall good beer.

Tap. Pours clear black, small beige head, decent lacing. Aroma is dark roast, molasses, cocoa. Flavors of molasses and burnt malt. Light plus sweet, light plus bitter. Medium body, soft mouthfeel.

Poured from 12 fl oz can. Black with dissipating beige head. Mild chocolate with dominant cheap coffee. Okay, but slightly lacking.

Somehow they won an award for this muddling molasses porter. It’s a great stepping stone porter, kinda like Steven seagal’s movies are great stepping stone choreography movies. Entertaining for a moment, but ultimately regret the purchase.

Dark with a tan head. Chocolate, roasted malts, sweet molasses notes, medium bodied. Slightly bitter finish. Enjoyable.

A deep dark porter with a very thin brown head. In aroma, bitter chocolate with coffee grind, musty character, light metallic notes, OK. In mouth, a bitter herbal chocolate malt with coffee grind, light metallic notes, a tad astringent, OK. On tap at brewery.

Draft at the source. Clear deep maroon color, beige head with solid lacing. Nice aroma of chocolate bar and coffee. Taste is light coffee and cocoa. Very nice.

Sample at GABF 09/26/2015, thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. Dark brown color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Partial rings of lace. Aroma of roasted malt and chocolate. Light to medium body with flavors of chocolate malt, molasses and a bit of coffee. The finish is sweet with a malt and honey aftertaste. Decent overall.

Draft at Cheeseburger in Paradise on Waikiki beach. Nose is molasses, chocolate, and a light char note. Black with a big heavy lacing beige head. Flavor is lightly bitter, lightly sweet, and the black strap and smoke. Very nice porter.
