Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 12 ounce can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy reddish copper/brown color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky light khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of nutty medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, dark fruit, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/light roasted malt, coffee, and light earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of big nutty medium roast coffee, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, and toasted biscuit; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, dark fruit, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/grassy/spicy hop and roasted coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, caramel, brown sugar, brown bread, toasted biscuit, chocolate, cocoa, herbal, grass, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malt, coffee, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.5%. Overall this is a very nice American brown ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/light roasted malt, coffee, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the mildly bitter/drying finish. Great nutty/fruity coffee presence, and a great well rounded base brown ale malt profile. Just enough hops to balance. A very enjoyable offering, and great style example.

Nice rich brown coloured body with a large, soapy tan head, about four centimetres tall and leaving a pretty ugly lace. Aroma of pure coffee tea (cascara), or dried coffee cherry fruit along with some caramel, a bit of nuts and a very dry earthy, musty scent and a big dose of oatmeal. Light to Medium-bodied; Assertive nutty and earthy flavours dominate with the definite coffee cherry flavour along with some oats, a little caramel and a finish that shows a bitter hop note. Aftertaste is mostly of the oats and coffee cherries, but also some hay, earth, nuts and a touch of the sugars. Overall, a nice and refreshing beer, but still with a lot of flavours and definitely interesting and different than the same old tried and true beer recipes. Nice to try and perhaps even better, given that it was in a can. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Colorado Liqour Outlet in Colorado Springs, Colorado by my boss - thanks Jeff on 02-January-2016, sampled in my hotel room here in New York, New York on 08-June-2017.

12oz can. Pretty tasty coffee-brown ale. Nice bitter balance, pleasant brown malt tones, pleasant brown cold brewed coffee notes. All around a pleasant beer. Solid..

Seems as though they’re trying to take a rich beverage like coffee and dumy it down beerwise. Doesn’t work too well.

Had this at Rioja in Denver, 11/21/2015. Pours brown-black. Nice coffee aroma to it, with some caramel and herbal notes, Flavor is coffee and earthy flavors mostly with some other malty notes coming through. Solid mouthfeel. Tasty beer overall.

Can. Clear amber brown color. Cocoa and coffee aroma. Taste has lightly toasted caramel on brown bread dipped in coffee with a bit of chocolate. OK.

Can - decent brown with a fairly well-executed coffee infusion - moderate character of the bean with a fair amount of the flavor, but minimal acid or bitterness - malt is medium sweet, with some hazelnut - a touch of earthy tobacco leaves, moderate roast - medium carbonation and body - decent.

Can @ home, picked up at Liquor Mart in Boulder. Black appearance with a big, dark brown head. Aroma has some green pepper, celery, black pepper, some roast, and old leaves. Medium body. Twangy flavor. A little bit of coffee at the back end but the initial flavor is chewy celery / stalky greens / grass. Some bell pepper. A touch sweet. It seems like cans from small breweries are a huge tendency to suck during their first few canning attempts. This is no exception.

Can. A- Coffee. A- Reddish brown color, hazy liquid, beige head. T- Coffee, slightly malty, slight bitterness, slightly dry. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty finish. O- Most of the time I consider the brown ale the piss poor version of the porter. Most often they are watery, thin, malty, and have all the characteristics of something great but are so weak it just falls apart. This beer is a solid one. Lots of coffee on the nose and palate. It’s just like drinking a cold coffee. It literally just tastes like straight coffee. Very well done other than the color reminds me of sewer water.

12 oz can purchased as a single at King’s Liquor in Olathe, Kansas. The pour is slight haze copper brown ruby with a one inch light tan head. The rocky head falls slow. The aroma is somewhat stale coffee along with roast malt. The taste is roast nutty malt, coffee grounds appear near the back. Something of a black pepper aspect to the finish. The palate is medium to heavy bodied, slightly mouth coating and the pepper finish. Interesting.
