Our 30th Anniversary Ale is a testament to three-plus decades of hard-work. It honors all that has helped us get to this point – hard work, quality and authenticity.
It reminds us of where we’ve been, how we’ve grown over the years, the challenges we’ve faced and at the same time, looks forward to what comes next.
Also a nod to another Bell's favorite, Expedition Stout, flavors of dark chocolate and fruit meld to create a full-bodied, roasty stout.
A fair amount of Polaris hops lend a brightness and a nice character that will help carry the beer in its early stages making it incredibly drinkable and interesting. Malt characteristics will continue to develop over time, so that beer drinkers who choose to cellar it can enjoy the beer for years to come.

Pours a dark, cola-black, with minimal head. Aroma has notes of coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, caramel, roasted grain, and licorice. Flavor is coffee, chocolate, licorice, dark fruit. Smooth and soft mouthfeel.

Bottle. Trade. Pours black with a creamy beige head and lacings. Heavy roasted nose and flavor. Sticky and oily, quite soft. Massive charcoal, dark fruit and ashes - quite overwhelming slash heavy. Some coffee. Long bitter roasted finish.

Pich black colour, no head. Aroma of molasses and some booze. Rich chocolate flavour, roasted malt, quite sweet, but not syrupy because the roastiness increases in the final.
Excellent.

330ml bottle (thx, Eric D.!) at Alex's. Pours a dark brown with a dark beige head. Aroma is some chocolate and roasted malt along with light inky and maybe grainy notes. Taste is similar with light smoky notes. Pretty good.

The Final Beer (#15) of my #7000 Beer Celebration - 7 on either side of the milestone. Deep pitch black coloured body with a thinnish, single to two centimetre tall off-white head on top. Aroma of roasted malt, light coffee, oats, grain, anise, some smoked meats and a touch of mushrooms on the end with a lot of alcohol perceivable. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich malt flavours dominate with a lot of oats and grain showing through with a good anise, coffee, chocolate and some prune sweetness coming through at the end. Aftertaste shows more of the smoked and drier, rich flavours than any of the sweetness or coffee notes and ending with some cream and lactose sweetness that shows a touch of the caramel and earth and little else - no real complexity at the finish. Overall, a nice but relatively underwhelming Imperial Stout that was nice and relatively straight-forward, but missed out on some of the more pungent and complex components that would be nice to have in a celebratory beer. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Fair Lakes (Fairfax), Virginia on 18-October-2015 for US$3,49 sampled at my house in Washington on 29-August-2018 as the final beer of my #7000 celebration! Bottling Date: 29-August-2015 // Purchased: 18-October-2015 // Sampled: 29-August-2018, exactly three years after bottling. Sampled Again During Rating #10,000 Celebration: s: vanilla - oats - chocolate a: muddied brown - thick tan head - 80 per cent opaque t: lactose - rich roasted malts - smooth creamy vanilla p: alcohol - earth - rustic nuts o: still good - potent but not overpowering - roasty, earthy & grainy 12 ounce bottle - Whole Foods - Fair Lakes (Fairfax), Virginia - US$3,49/single - purchased: 18-October-2015 - sampled again: 15-June-2023 Rating for this sample: 8,3,8,3,15

Rating #5000! It's been a blast getting to this point, a milestone I didn't think I would ever hit when I first got into all this madness. I chose this beer because it's really fitting. Celebrating a milestone rate, with a beer from a brewery I love, celebrating a milestone of their own. On top of that, splitting this bottle with Tcon25 and Luttonm, which have been in the same room during at least half of those 5000 rates. Cheers to you both, and a huge cheers and thanks to JStax for sending me this bottle. Poured at Toronado, Seattle at the cost of one sip to Charlie. Pours a dense black, tan fizz head that lasts. Huge chocolate aroma. Interesting barrel character. Such smooth flavor for it's strength. Very robust up front, but really smooths out fast. Matt mentioned walnut, and I can agree. Really interesting beer. Thrilled to try this, and make it a part of this milestone.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt with bitter black chocolate notes is quite nice. Taste is a robust mix of roasted malt with some string black chocolate notes with some bitterness and light residual sugar notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no real apparent alcohol notes. Quite the robust imperial stout with not as much residual sugar as I was expecting which might be a good thing as it increase the overall drinkability.
