Imperial Stout

Our 30th Anniversary Ale is a testament to three-plus decades of hard-work. It honors all that has helped us get to this point – hard work, quality and authenticity.

It reminds us of where we’ve been, how we’ve grown over the years, the challenges we’ve faced and at the same time, looks forward to what comes next.

Also a nod to another Bell's favorite, Expedition Stout, flavors of dark chocolate and fruit meld to create a full-bodied, roasty stout.

A fair amount of Polaris hops lend a brightness and a nice character that will help carry the beer in its early stages making it incredibly drinkable and interesting. Malt characteristics will continue to develop over time, so that beer drinkers who choose to cellar it can enjoy the beer for years to come.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Tom L. Black with a brown head. Aroma of roast, chocolate, pralines, some nutty notes, and a bit of licorice. Sweet flavor with chocolate, roast, pralines, fudge, bitter finish. Full-bodied, rounded. Great stuff.

Bottle - oddly enough in Ft Myers FL. Been trying to find one of these - and WOW! Perfect imperial stout - on par with the GOAT, Expedition Stout. Enjoyed every sip!

Tap at Ginger Man, New York. Originally rated 20160212. Colour is black with very small slightly brownish white head. Aromas and flavours: Coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Pretty average imp but very drinkable so points for that.

12 oz bottle @ homa, shared with MarcodL & caesar. Pitch black color with a brown head. Aroma’s: grain/malts, drop/licorice. Retronasal it’s sweet wort, grain. Flavor is moderate sweet, roasted. Strong alcohol feel. Medium bodied. I left a small part in the bottle for the next day, the aroma was much more roasted, ground coffee, but still wort and drop retronasal. I think we all agreed that this was more an Imperial Schwarz. Still nice though.

Bottle, courtesy of PotjeBier. Dark pour. Aroma of lots of malt and some caramel, almost like wort. Tastes a bit like sweet wort as well, with sweet caramelised malt, licorice and some grain. Tastes like an imperial schwarz.

Bottle to tulip. Aromas of dark fruit, chocolate and coffee. Moderate low roast. Slight hard root beer candy. Black with full brown head that quickly dissipates to nothing. Taste is rich, with full dark chocolate dominating the back half of the palate and chocolate and bitter roast battling at the end. Cola and alcohol present - although alcohol is not overwhelming for an 11%er. Coats the tongue and leave a bready chewyness. Can still ring some chocolate out of your tongue. Tasty.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured thick, black and oily with a huge foamy very dark brown head that lingered forever and left good lacing. The aroma was strong cocoa powder, toasty malts and faint floral hops. The flavor was strong cocoa and toasty malts with a mildly bitter presence of fruity and floral hops. Rich on the tongue with a very long cocoa finish. Bitterness grows as it warms. Thick and full body. Marvelous!

Bottle. Pours opaque black, large creamy layer forming dark brown bread, slow to dissipate, great lacing. Aroma is roasty with kids of anise, root beer, molasses, spices, cinnamon stick, pine. Flavor is medium sweet, fully bitter, interesting and spicy, woody, molasses. Full body, creamy mouthfeel, lingering bitterness.
