Deep super clear bronze and copper coloured body with a very thin, perhaps half a centimetre tall off-white head with a great ruby and copper glow - very nice looking. Aroma of smoked and oaky notes with a large alcohol and almost bourbon presence along with some citrus and fruit scents near the end. Medium-bodied; Assertive oaky and dry malty flavours at first with a large bourbon, vanilla and very barrel-y flavour throughout with a nice malt flavour and a subtle yet smooth sweetness from fruits noticeable at the end, but this shows a lot of malts and some dry flavours throughout. Aftertaste is a bit thin, but showing a ton of barrel and oaky notes with a big bourbon and alcohol flavour that doesn't show it too much near the end, but also ending a bit sweet. Overall, a nice and dry beer with a ton of flavours along with some complexities, mostly stemming from the barrel aging with a complex, almost peaty and smoked flavour that shows well throughout. I sampled this thirty-two ounce crowler purchased at BeerTopia in Omaha, Nebraska on 13-March-2018 for US$8,00 sampled at home in Washington on 26-April-2018.

Draft/Fest. A- Tannins, fruity. A- Orange color, cloudy liquid, off white head. T- Fruity, wine, sweet, cherries, oak. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- Nice and really balanced. The wine barrels I think are what actually make this beer good.

Draft at Sioux Falls festival. Hazy golden color, white edge head. Aroma of vanilla, herbs, lemon. Taste has smooth vanilla, citrus. Less funky than the original but still tasty.
