Dark, rich, roasty and refreshing. With toasty notes of coffee, cocoa and dark chocolate on a medium-full body that finished dry.

JP: I feel like I’ve always been aware of LHG; and when I met Jack I really liked him and loved talking business with him. We also visited LHG brewpub last November and it was absolutely amazing: great and interesting beer, great vibe, great people.

MJ: I remember the first beer I tried from them, it was a collab with Pressure Drop (London) called Escape Pod or Escape Room around 2016? That beer inspired our first imperial stout, 95% Effective.

MJ: We met LHG Jack a couple of years back on the way to the Mash afterparty with Verdant Adam. I heard that Aussie accent and it was love at first sight. Brew days are looong so it's really important you get along with the folks you are brewing with.

JP: We love some of the more traditional English styles that Alex brews at the LHG brewpub and since he was coming over for the brew, it made sense to go in that direction. We wanted something dark, rich and delicious, perfect for the colder months ahead, so we decided on a Foreign Extra Stout. We are really happy about it!

MJ: I wanted to brew an Imperial Stout that harkened back to the one that introduced me to LHG but it didn't quite work with our brew schedule so we dialled it back to something a little more drinkable. Bristol is famous for the Milk Stout so I think it's a nice nod to LHG’s hometown. My sister is left handed but as with many left handed folks they become ambidextrous, living in a right handed world.

JP: The label, following our concept for limited edition beers, depicts a bird’s eye view. In this case, we chose a night time view of the Clifton Bridge in Bristol, LHG’s home. We decided on a nighttime view to go with the fact that this is a dark beer. And, the bridge has two points on each side, following the Ambidextrous theme.

MJ: It was a lovely sunny day, so we headed down to the driving range in the Mini Truck. Jack can really hit a golf ball, but I kept topping the ball and really need to get back to some lessons. It was the first time Alex had ever hit a golf ball!

Owen brewed the beer, and Judit cooked her mum’s paella recipe, which turned out great. We drank ratafia, and fun was had by all.

Black with a firm beige head. Roasted malts, coffee, earthy, light cocoa powder, toffee. Medium to full body. Finishing lingering roasted notes but not bitter. I dig this. It’s not coffee in a glass but does approach that territory.

440ml can bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. The oily pours reveals a deep dark body with a ruby shade under a covering fawn-coloured head, spotty lacing. Inviting on the nose with dark chocolate malts, nicely roasted. Malt-driven taste of chocolate malts, ash, and black coffee, hints of dark fruits as well. Smoothly roasted malty ending. Fine depth to it. Likeable. (Tromsø, 02.01.2026).

44cl can. BB14/07/2026. Canned 14/112025.
