12 ounce can into snifter, canned on 9/21/2015. Pours opaque dark brown/black color with a small dense and rocky tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, wood, grass, peppercorn, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/black/roast/bready malts, chocolate, coffee, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, and dark bread/crust; with lighter notes of licorice, raisin, prune, fig, date, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, wood, grass, peppercorn, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate pine, herbal, woody, grassy, peppery hops; and roast/charred bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, dark roasted coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, brown sugar, roasted nuts, toasted biscuit, dark bread/crust, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, charcoal, leather, tobacco, herbal, wood, grass, peppercorn, pine, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, chocolate, coffee, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; with a fantastic roast/hop bitter/sweet balance; and no cloying, acrid, astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and fairly full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready/grainy, fairly sticky/chalky, and lightly slick mouthfeel that is fantastic. Mild increasing warmth of 10.5% after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic Russian imperial stout! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/black/roast/bready malts, chocolate, coffee, and light-moderate fruity yeast/earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV, with the mellowly bitter/charred/drying finish. Nicely soft feel, not overly bitter/charred. Fantastic balance between rich malts, chocolate, and fruity/nutty coffee complexity; with balancing earthy hops, and restrained fruity yeast. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering hop/char bitter dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and amazingly spot on style example. The coffee held up surprisingly well considering the age, may have been in a fridge the whole time.

Tall grass Brewing Co. Big Ricc A 10.5% Russian Imperial Stout with Coffee & Chocolate added. I got this can from a buddy who picked it up in Korea but it was brewed in Manhattan... Kansas.
A deep soot black with nice thick crey tan head of foam. Rich umami savoury aroma with cocoa beans and light fruity coffee notes.
Medium Body, roasty dark chocolate with a meaty savouriness. More dark chocolate flavor than coffee while I was expecting the opposite. Tasty.

Coffee- and chocolate-flavored stout, can shared by Ster at tderoeck’s place, big cheers for this as it happens to be my first Kansas beer and therefore a new ’state tick’... Pale yellowish beige, lacing, moussy head over a black beer with burgundy-hued edges. Strong aroma of milk chocolate and dark chocolate sauce, mocha ice cream, bitter cocoa, vanilla, cappuccino, fragrant coffee powder, pipe tobacco, whisky, burnt wood, dried fig, toasted coconut, butterscotch. Restrained ’dried’ fruit sweetness in the onset, hints of fig, raisin and dried banana, umami accent, softish carbo with a very thick, oily, creamy mouthfeel as is to be expected from an imperial stout. Deep malty middle, some sourish roasted barley turning mouth-filling bitter in the end, over a toffeeish and chocolatey malt sweet core; coffee presence is noticeable retronasally and adds extra aroma and flavour. Vanilla- and milk chocolate-like impressions in the finish too, but also a strong, heating, bourbon-like alcohol presence, eventually becoming a bit (too) wry on the root of the tongue. This beer being a tad too alcoholic even for its style is the only problem I have with it: otherwise this is a highly accomplished, rich and fragrant stout, in which the added coffee and chocolate are well-integrated into the whole rather than simply lying on top of it.

Canned on 09/2415. Thanks Willie! Aged review.
This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a finger’s worth of white to off white foamy head. Messy lace.
The aroma starts with a big and bold robust dark and milk chocolate malt bill. Subtle sharp almost acidic coffee bean coming in underneath.
The flavor leans to the chocolate portions, nice and dry and sweet. Good level of roast. Acidity trying to poke out. Bitter roasty coffee sweet chocolatey aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice sipping quality about it. Carbonation seems to have dissipated altogether.
Overall, age has done this pretty well. Yes, the acidity of the coffee is starting to come out a little bit, but with the amount of chocolate malts that TG seemed to have put in, well, it helps and I think this is probably a real gem when fresh.
