8/3/2019. Cask at the Crosse Keys, London City. Pours dark amber with a creamy off-white head. Aroma of hops, malt, fruit, caramel, bread, tart berries and light veg. Moderate sweetness and bitterness with light sour. Moderate body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Sourness picked up in finish, maybe not served in its prime or maybe just not that good. Looked good though.

Cask at the Regal, Cambridge. Golden brown, slightly cloudy. Toast, caramel, Bisto, malt. Tastes a bit wrong: bittersweet sourness hitting the back of the tongue and continuing to the finish and aftertaste. Weak body. This is not one of B & T’s better ales.

Closer to a bitter but had an inkling of amber with the very mildest of orange citrus and a slight glow to that effect. The bitter malts dominate though.

Cask at Hamilton Hall, JDW, London. Pours clear gold with a small, white foam head. Sugary pale malt nose, little else. Interesting flavor, some smoke notes that I doubt are intentional, but that I actually enjoy. Medium sweetness, some mellow hay, bread. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, white sugar, lightly grainy bread, some more smokiness. Meh.
