Our wise old Ferryman's favourite fruit is, apparently, cherries! Naturally, we had to craft an Imperial Stout with a sour cherry twist, a beer we imagine he'd happily sip by his side at the helm.
Inspired by our friends at The Kernel and their beautiful Export Stout Sour Cherry, we've created our own decadent take on the style. We added a sour cherry puree to our base Ferryman brew, resulting in our luscious DON'T FEAR THE CHERRYMAN. The delicious notes of sour cherries cut through the big maltiness, making this a pure black forest gateau in liquid form!

Not bad. Some sturdy dark malts, faintly medicinal cherry vibes, earth, cocoa. So so.

Can thanks to Fergus. Semi opaque dark brown beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Airy smooth palate, slightly viscous, good fine minerally carbonation. Soft dark malts, creamy dark chocolate. Good cherry liqueur vibe, rich and a little spicy. Airy smooth finish. Nicely joined up.

Can split at the CBJ tasting Bermondsey, thanks to Fergus, 25/03/2026.
Light black topped with a khaki cap.
Nose is chocolate, cherry skins, dark malts, charr.
Taste comprises chocolate dipped cherries, spice, mellow roast, molasses, brown sugar melt.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, drying close.
Okay sipper if a touch 1D and overly cherry fuelled for my liking.

Roasty, dry and earthy with some stuffy notes, artificial tart cherry jam and herbal bitterness. A bit unbalanced

Taste is chocolate, coffee, fudge, chocolate cake, earthy dark malt, toffee, dark fruits, cherry chocolate torte, roasty chocolatey finish. Smooth and sweet, very nice. Cherry sits in the background well.

Can from Great Grog. Black body with a tan head. No visible carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of ripe cherry and Black Forest gateau. Flavour of tangy cherry, roasted malt and a hint of Marmite. Medium to full body with a chewy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. Bold and tangy.
