On tap at Blind Tiger, pours. Clear amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out a nice, gentle smoked meat character and soft bready malt. Flavour is dry and gently smoky, with light campfire smoke, gently sweet bready malt and a hint of caramel. Not as pleasing as their smoked helles I just tried. It's alright.

GTMW 2015. Amber color. Good smoke aroma. A smoked lager, its not complex, its not Schlenkerla, but there is an earthy quality with the dryness of smoke that makes this an enjoyable rauchbier. Sampled again at GABF 2015, and score remains unchanged.

Draft at GTMW 2015. Clear deep amber crown color, tan head. Aroma of light peat and tobacco. Taste is sweet malt on a background of smoke, dry finish. The bear would be proud.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a crystal clear deep amber with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a decent amount of smoke with underlying light roast and barbacue. Flavor has smokey barbacue throughout with light roast and toffee underlying.

Mmmmm... Kansas smoked beer, that does not come around often. I have had this a few times but this rating is from a sampler at the brewpub I had a few hours ago (wanted to visit my state capital on election day). Brown beer, clear. Aroma is mild on smoke, otherwise clean malts with alcohol. Flavor is again very clean, mild leaves with a nice kick of smoke. Just a smoke vehicle on a light brown ale. I like it, could drink it pretty easily for a while.

Sample #8 at GTMW. Hey, I remarked to the pourer how they must be the brewer that’s traveled furthest to get here, and he gifted me with a shaker glass (but didn’t pour beer in it). Solid brown color, but very clear, with no haze at all. Thin head. Definitely a smoky smell, a little bacony. Smoky sip, nice malt base. Good, solid beer mouthfeel. I just wasn’t sure what the test wanted to be, but it was still very nice. Like many smoke beers, it’s bit aggressive for just relaxing with. I needed cheese and I wasn’t near that tent yet.

Pour is a brown with a average with head. Aroma is not that smoky on the first whiff but more of a sweet malt. Flavor has more of the smoke but nothin over the top. It does leave a ham/bacon on the tounge as this goes down. I used to hate smoke beers but Im begining to find that they have a place in my fridge in small doses.

Growler, shared by csbosox at his tasting on 3/7/08. Pour is mahogany with a whispy off white head. Aroma of bacon, hickory smoked. Smoke is pretty dominant in the nose. Taste is smoke, layered on top of a pretty inoffensive straight forward ale. Good and tasty, though quite one dimensional. Thanks for sharing Chris.
