Strong Belgian-style ale with pronounced woodsy, cellared character; this ''beer for keeping'' balances sweet malted barley with a crisp, dry bitterness. Fruity esters meet vanilla-oak notes in a complex blend that's rich in rustic charm.

Csn at The Green Goddess, Blackheath Royal Standard.
Rich nose of caramel, toffee apple, cola cubes, candied peel. Taste is a very flavoursome mix of the above. Quite oaky & smoky. Long sweet conserve-esque aftertaste. Very nice.

Can from Westhill Service Station (I think). It pours clear deep red - brown with a thick, pillowy white head. The aroma is fragrant, warming spice, clove, cola cubes, slightly metallic, nutty, almond biscotti, pear drops, melon and fruit crumble. The taste is firmly dry, some bitterness, slightly medicinal, herbal, damp grass, spice, dry oak, earthy, clove, nutmeg, dried fruits, fruit cake, pear, melon, leather, tannin, metallic vibes and boozey alcohol boost through the finish. Medium+ body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Commands attention for sure. Pretty punchy stuff overall.

Can from Appellation Wines. Pours dark brown with a thick pale beige head. Aromas of candied lemon, vanilla, marmalade and wood spice. Taste is chewy spice, mixed peel, raisins and wood again. Interesting stuff.

440ml can bought as part of a delivery from RAD Beer and drunk at home. Mid-brown with a strong reddish hue, clear with a quickly dissipating beige head. Sumptuous aroma of cherries, white pepper, cola, dried grass, light funk. Sweet taste, lots of spice, some almost souring woody notes. Fairly thick body, tannic, low to medium carbonation. Great stuff, a bit odd but all the better for it.

Can from Appellation Wines.
Appearance - deep brown and opaque. Fluffy beige/yellow head.
Nose - candied lemon, vanilla, rhubarb, lime marmalade and burnt wood.
Taste - dried fruit, sweet spice and more burnt wood.
Palate - medium bodied at least, sweet but tangy and an edge of wood.
Overall - there's just so much going on here! Excellent!
