330ml can. Black with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, honey, roast malts. Taste of chocolate, honey, figs, vanilla, roast malts, quite earthy, with a very bitter finish. Medium body, quite fizzy, a little too much carbonation in this. This one sounded a lot better than it tasted.

Tap at Takanoya. Pitch black, hazy, with lace. Nose is cocoa. That’s about it. Flavor is sweet cocoa, just a touch of roast and berry. Soft and strong. An extremely one-dimensional cocoa stout that is a bit tasty but got very tiring through the pint.

330ml can. Pours black with no head. Nose is charcoal, coffee and dark chocolate. Flavour is burnt chocolate, sweet vanilla and honey and a lot of boozy fig character as it warms. A fun idea, and really quite tasty, though not one I'd keep going back for. I also question the idea of an "afrodisiac" beer that's 8.5%. I mostly just feel sleepy now. Rerate: I went back, definitely still feeling sleepy but damn that's a tasty beer. Fig, vanilla, chocolate, toast, coffee. Big thick body. Nice bitter finish. Maybe it's this year's batch or maybe last year I was just grumpy and alone, but this really is delicious.

Can, label says 8%. Black with a tan head that’s soon a coat. Aroma of mocha, roasted barley as well as malt, licorice fudge, vanilla. Full bodied with lowish carbonation - at first you think silky, then maybe a bit sludgy. Very sweet with some astringency and high bitterness cutting through at the last. Some salt there too. More coffee and acrid roast than chocolate. No sign of the figs or the honey (don’t know what maca root tastes like). The finish is rather tiring after a while.

50cl bottle pours a murky black with lots of foamy, off white head. Nose has malt, pumpernickel, molasses, chocolate, caramel. Flavor has cocoa nibs, brown sugar, malt balls, caramel, some malt, toast. Standard. Old school.

Bottle courtesy of nate2g, thanks! Shared at the 2015 epic sour tasting, as a change of pace. Clear maroon brown color. Nice cocoa and vanilla aroma. Taste is sweet vanilla, licorice, dark chocolate, light booze. Tasty.
