Keg at Open Gate. It pours clear deepest brown with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is toasty, earthy, bitter - sweet, cola, caramel, smooth roast and toasty brown sugars. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, dark roasted malt, woody, cacao nibs, toasty spice, earth and some umami with a drying, toasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Fair.

Half-pint, draught at the brewpub. Almost black in the glass, covering white head that laced fine. Mid-sweet chocolate malts on the nose, lightly roasted. Rounded taste character of dark chocolate malts, hints of dried fruits. Rounded roasted malty ending. Medium bodied. Nice. (Covent Garden, London 02.03.2026).

Keg at the Open Gate Brewery in Covent Garden. Pours clear amber brown with a ruby hue, beige foam. Aroma: light sweet malts, some roast. Taste: light to moderate sweet with lighter bitterness, light roast, milk choc hints. Thin body. Again served too cold but a bit more flavour here, nothing special though.
