Nothing is more evocative of summer than the beautiful aroma of flowers, and the favored flowers of brewers are hops. Our brand new summer ale, Fleur de Houblon (Hop Flowers), is brewed to bring the many elements of summer into a refreshing and easy-to-drink Belgian-style ale.

Fleur de Houblon is a rich gold color with distinct floral hops in the aroma that follow through in the taste. Whole-cone Bravo hops are used to impart their earthy, fruity, and floral aromas and flavors. The body and flavor are clean and dry, with pleasing complexity and spicy notes from both primary and secondary fermentation with our unique Ommegang house yeast.

Grass and pear nose. Hazy golden, thin head. Funk and overripe lemon flavor with a mild grassy finish. Nice, not very exotic.

12 ounce bottle into signature tulip glass, bottled on 3/13/2013. Pours cloudy golden straw color with a 3 finger dense and fluffy white head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with moderate streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big tangerine, lemon zest, orange zest, pear, light banana, pepper, clove, bubblegum, wheat, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Incredible aromas with great balance and complexity of hop and yeast ester notes. Taste of tangerine, lemon zest, orange zest, pear, pepper, clove, bubblegum, light banana, floral, grass, wheat, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of citrus, light fruits, light banana, clove, pepper, bubblegum, floral, grass, wheat, and earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of hop and yeast ester flavors; with moderate malt balance and zero cloying flavors after finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a lightly cream, smooth, and crisp mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent hoppy Belgian pale ale! Great balance and complexity of hop and yeast flavors; and extremely smooth to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Draft @ Meadhall, Cambridge, MA. Ommegang glassware show a nice hazy gold with great head retention. Nose is light floral hop presence, pale malts and definite Belgian yeast with a fruitiness. The house yeast profile seems to be alive here. Taste is much the same as the aroma and real tasty. Slightly dry finish. Another nice brew from these guys. Refreshing spring / summer brew.

Ommegang does light Belgian styles much better than strong Belgian styles., and this beer comes through. Pours golden clear with good head and really good lacing. Has a slightly bitter finish, but texture still watery. Aroma has some booze and candy malt, but light. On tap at Blue Monk.

Cloudy gold pour - compact, soapy head - nose is semisweet, with fruity aromas of pear and melon, along with floral and citric hops and light gummy esters - carbonation is light and fluffy in the mouth, but acidity prickles the tongue, making it feel more bubbly than it is - moderate sweetness after the initial acidity, with some gum and pear flavors - flavor dries out nicely near the end, getting a little spiciness from the yeast, as the hop bitterness decides to kick in - finish is peppery, floral, and grassy - overall quite nice - given the cost, I will likely not make it a regular purchase this summer, though.

12oz bottle pours a clear, very light yellow with a very frothy, lacing, white head. Nose is nice, some buttered popcorn, hay, light grass, straw, some pronounced meyer lemon. Flavor is very pleasant, grass, hay, straw, lemon, orange, some light herbs, some light spice, a little bit of candy. Finishes a little sweet to be a session, but still very nice. I pick this up again.
