Century Ale is golden in color and has aromas of toasted crackers, passion fruit and citrus. The flavor suggests complex notes of biscuit and fruit followed by a dry, slightly tart finish. We brew this beer with Pilsner, raw wheat and Biscuit malt. It is then fermented for 1 year in stainless steel with a blend of a traditional Saison yeast and Brettanomyces. Prior to bottling, we dry hop with a blend of German and American experimental hops. Please enjoy this beer fresh.

The beer is a yellow, fairly pale with a touch of orange. The head is fairly fizzy and white. Little lacing and fades away quickly. The liquid is cloudy but I kicked a good amount of sediment. The aroma is tropical fruit with some lime and a background of dusty, earthy saison character. The beer has a sort of overripe fruit flavor, which is nice enough, but as it warms, some cheesiness comes out and the combination doesn’t quite work for me. There’s also some simple pale malty sweetness knocking around. Mild funk. I’d prefer a bit more saison flavor and a bit less malt. The taste is nice enough. Friendly saison yeastiness and fruity hops. Mild but definite bitterness. A little tang. It dries out some in the finish. Medium full feel. Some effervescence, fizz.

Bottle @ Steve_0 during my 10k tick fest. Thanks Lukaduke. Hazy golden orange appearance with a thin white head. Lemon, tangy tropical fruity, honey, funky nose. Juicy, pretty well carbonated. Lemon, honey wheat flavor. Pretty fine.

375 c&c from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy gold with a transient, slight white head. Aroma is hard bread with lightly cooked stone fruit. Sour and/or brett notes. Med body. Spritely carbonation. Flavor is very lightly bready, bretty, and has a sour light stone fruit - like nectarine. Maybe apricot. Finishes towards a bit of bretty citrus. Quite smooth. Earthy, but not really horse blanket. Finishes dry and astringent. Quite nicely done.

Bottle from Bert’s Lightly hazy yellow straw with a decent sized white head. Big lemony earthy notes with a supporting funkiness to it. Crisp tart funk and refreshing. Very nice Saison.

Bottle and Draft (previously). Pours with a slightly hazy pale hued body with a white head that fades a bit quickly. Aromas are of toast, brett, funk, bready, tropical fruit (hops and esters), passion fruit and ripe apple. Mildly goaty funk as well. Flavors are, very mildly tart, heavy pineapple, floral and citrusy hops, peach, ripe melon. Quite nice. Mildly mousey to TCA funk notes (not really at a level to distract). Crisp and very easy to drink. Slightly viscous mouthfeel that I occasionally get from beers heavy in oats or brewed with French Saison yeast. Very high (nice) carbonation.

375ML stored upright for 2 weeks @ fridge temp (35F) enjoyed 2 weeks in stemware a bit cold so I allowed it to warm. Very cloudy, hazy 1 finger dense creamy head. Smells like oak, peach, persimmon, peppercorn and wood. Taste is nice. mineral water mouthfeel, dense, has an efervescent quality, graham crackers, peppers, peaches and tree fruit. funky but on the lighter side.

375 ml and to be honest this traveled in a car before I opened it so the yeast was shook up so it is not clear at all. Bottled 5 February 2015. Aroma is citrus forward with a solid of funky yeast.

The flavor is again citrus forward with lemons, limes, grain and mild band aid. The brett is taking over with a good balance of citrus. Not sure how this sat around this long before it hit distribution in NH but.... Anyone who lives in NH knows distribution here is not good. This brew is exactly as it should be and I’m glad it sat around a tad.
