A milk stout uses sugar made from cows milk to give the beer a sweet, creamy tone. Bristol breweries were once famous for brewing the best milk stouts around. For our take on the traditional recipe we’ve used copious amounts of chocolate malts and vanilla pods to create rich, velvety and satisfying dark beer.

Third, cask ale, 4.5 % abv, at Head of Steam. Shared with Finn. Beige bubbly head leaving spotty lacing behind. Black in the glass. Coconuts, rather sweet, on the nose. Nuts and chocolate flavours, lactose backbone. Choco-milk to the ending. Pretty alright. (Birmingham 03.02.2020).

Bottle 500ml. @ The Shnoodlepip, London. [ As Wiper and True Milk Shake Milk Stout ].ABV: 3.9%. Clear dark brown colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, light chocolate. Flavor is moderate sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, milk chocolate, sweet malt, dark malt, thin. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. [20151208] 5-3-6-3-11

Keg @ Drink? Hebden Bridge. Dark coloured stout with a fairly decent texture and taste for a relatively low alcohol effort in this style.

On tap @Mad for Beer (Rome). Pours deep brown with a milky off-white head. Aroma of mild milk, founded coffee, chocolate. Flavpur is medium sweet, chocolate, lactose, light coffee notes. Light body, watery, light carbonation. Ok.

Keg @ Tilt, Birmingham. Pours black, thin tan head. Aroma is cocoa, lactose, light roast. Taste is creamy, milky, chocolatey with a light bitter roast edge. Great balance, delicious. Right up my street.

Bottled@Public Corner, Vaasa (backlog). Black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts, some coffee, mild creamy notes. Flavour is coffee, vanilla, roasted malts, some toffee and mild sweetness as well. Brutally drinkable.
